  1. LSD oil in an axle without LSD works just as good as the oil without the extra aditive (spelling) do, so to be safe buy the LSD oil.

If you fill an LSD axle with oil that don´t have that aditive it will make a very bad noise when turning.

When I worked as a Toyota mechanic our workshop only had the LSD oil, we used it in all cars, Castrol SAF-XJ. Today that oil is named, Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-140

  2. The colour is not the most important, its if you have Ethylen or Propylen, cause both of them can be found in green, blue, red/pink and yellow.

Toyota longlife anti-freeze are Ethylen and is red/pink.

Colour is important if we are talking about Toyota coolant. Red is long life, Pink is super long life.

Both are ethylen so you can mix them how you want,

and when its mixed in the coolingsystem it can be pretty darn hard to see

the difference between red and pink.

As long as you guys don´t mix Ethylen and Propylen there are no dangers, cause that can end up like a thick goo in your system.

  3. Easy to calculate by your self :outforcount:

    Rear standard ET55 and 7,5inch wide plus 20mm spacer= ET 35

    7,5inch = 190,5mm

    190,5/2 = 95,25mm

    95,25-35 = 60,25mm

Clearance to standard fender in the rear is 68mm, so you have almost a centimeter of clearance to your fender.

Okay, here's the definitive guide to
all the wheel offset and fitment questions. Here's the real way to
figure out whether your wheels will fit!

EDIT: Thanks to NeoVB for this excellent link to help visualize wheel parameters - Wheel / tire size calculator / comparer - RIMS-N-TIRES

These limits are the practical extremes with good alignments. You can
buy more fender room with camber or rolling or pulling. In front, you
can buy more room with shorter overall tire diameter (<25") The
closer you get to these limits, the more likely you will need to stretch
a tire to fit the fender side. Drop does not determine what size wheels
fit. Put too aggressive a wheel, and one day, you WILL bend your
fender when you take the wrong turn with a good bump if you exceed these
    limits.

Measuring in mm from the face of the hub:

    Front fender limit: +65mm

    Comments:

    | +65 | Stretch tire and/or roll fender. Need fender liner mod. Do not exceed tire diameter of 25"

    | +55 | Fender liner mod if going for a wide or tall tire. Do no exceed tire diameter of 25.2"

Front inner suspension upright limit: -155mm

    Comments:

Need spacer if this number is exceeded. If close, do not use lip weights on wheels

    Rear fender limit: +68mm

Rear fender limit w/ shaved lip: +75

    Comments:

Need to stretch tire to a certain degree if very close to these numbers

Rear inner suspension coil lmit: -183mm

    Comments:

Several factors matter as you approach this limit. You may need to
limit the amount of suspension travel. You may need to stretch tire.
And you cannot run as aggressive camber. I've been able to actually
scrub tire well before this limit (@ -175mm) with track cornering loads
on the spring and inner forward tub.

Equations to figure out wheel lip placement relative to limits:

    Outer lip: (Wheel Width * 25.4) / 2 - Wheel Offset

    Inner lip: (Wheel Width * 25.4) / 2 + Wheel Offset

Note: Inner lip is related to backspacing but backspacing takes into
consideration the wheel lip thickness, which is usually another 1/2" or
    12.7mm.

    Examples:

    Front wheel size: 8.5" +45

    Fender: 8.5 * 25.4 / 2 - 45 = 62.95 (< 65 - OK)

    Suspension: 8.5 * 25.4 / 2 + 45 = 152.95 ( < 155 - OK)

    Rear wheel size: 9.5" +55

    Fender: 9.5 * 25.4 / 2 - 55 = 65.175 (< 68 - OK)

    Suspension: 9.5 * 25.4 / 2 + 55 = 175.65 (< 190 - OK)
  4. OK, so does it have to be a Lexus wiper rubber or will a replacement from Halfords work?

You can split the plastic thing with a flathead screwdriver that holds the rubber to pull it out, just buy a new rubber at Toyota, doesn´t cost much.

Same principal on all Toyota/Lexus wagons.

I made a image for you :outforcount:

  5. Good to hear that you "fixed" your problem Tony :winky:

    Excellent diagnosis Pierre :)

With a 4 litre top up required must have been missed on servicing for some time, I would check all the other fluid levels and tyre pressures as soon as.

I worked as a Toyota/Lexus technician between 2004 and 2009 so I have experienced alot of "fake" failures and customers who described many strange symptoms on their cars.

Just knowing the basics and how stuff works makes it much more easy to diagnos :winky:

I´m Swedish btw so sorry for my schoolenglish :zee:

  6. Hi, no I´m not gonna ask if a IS300 Xenon headlight fits a IS200 with Halogen as 90% of all topics involving Headlight do. :shifty:

First of all, I´m from Sweden, so any partnumbers for your cars don´t work for me LHD cars here :winky: .

I´m simply wondering about the IS300 headlights, what years and so have what tint, I have a 2002 IS300 Sportcross, imported from Germany,

It has the darker chromed taillights but normal chromed headlights, for the moment I run with Eagle-eyes, the black ones that can be found on eBay,

I bought them cause my standards had burned reflectors, but the output and beam pattern really sucks, so now I´m gonna order new standards at Toyota.

So if I want the darker standard ones, I should order from either a 2004 or a 2005 model?

I have tried to find out what year have what types, but its hard to tell on photos in ads at the internet.

And searching with partnumbers from Toyodiy don´t give much on google or eBay.

I have read somewhere that there was matte bronze finish and a dark chrome on the last models.

Somebody with some info on this?
