  1. Hi all, I have been a member on here for some time, I have owner two gen 1 IS200’s in the past and have toyed with the idea of GS and LS in the past. Now looking to move away from my dirty 12 year old VW diesel, that has served me well and would like move back to a petrol or even a hybrid. Specially now I have reduced my commute to 30 miles a day for work and that diesel is 30p more expensive compared to petrol it would not cost as much to run a petrol. Has anyone driven all variants of the 3rd Gen IS200t/250/300H? If we had the choice of the 350 it would be a no brainer for me but we dont have that luxury here in the UK, I am also considering a JDM Toyota crown with the 3.5L V6.

Has anyone driven all three variants? I have driven a 2nd 250 and would expect the 3rd gen it to be similar. What’s the 200T like, I have watched a few youtube review’s and all mention there is a big amount of turbo lag? There doesnt seem to much information about remapping? If I wanted to go that way. Then there is a hybrid what I am leaning towards as I think its a sensible step before we all move over to EV’s in the next 10-20 years. MPG is not a massive deal breaker for me, I am just after a very usable and reliable car.

  2. Hi all, i am currently doing some research into the Toyota crown GRS204, currently thinking of importing one later in the year.  Just wondering if anyone knows if the parts are common to any UK Toyota/Lexus?   I know IS250 parts can be used for a Mark X and some IS200/300 parts can used on the older S170 Crown.

  3. I over took an ISF on the A47 last week, then noticed it was behind me on the NDR around the North side of Norwich. I pulled into the left hand lane and opened my window so I could hear it i let it go past. Sounded awesome 👍🏻

Hi In flames - I haven't seen a single other LS430 in Norfolk, where about are you? I'm Wymondham.

I am in Norwich.  But commute to near Wymondham everyday for work.  I see some Ls430’s, the other morning on my drive into work I saw a LS460 and a LS600h.  I am currently considering getting back into a Lexus and have always wanted a LS.

Doesn't sound like you're too far from me Aaron.

If you'd like to look at a 450 and see if you think it's worth the extra cost over a 400 then you'd be welcome to come and have a chat and a play with mine. Easier to take it in than when you've got a salesman alongside you, and I can give you my real world thoughts about its pros and cons.

    Mine's a '14, but I don't think there's too much different on the earlier pre-facelift models.

Thats not a bad idea at all mate.  One of the issues i have been finding is all the RX400h and RX450h for sale are about 50+ miles away

  6. Hi everyone, i am looking about getting back into the lexus fold, i have had my BMW V8 fun and the 650I is no longer going to be practical enough due work relocating later in the year and needing to get estate or SUV as i will need the load space.  Shame Lexus doesn't make a large estate car, but they make the RX hybrid, what is great as i don't need to go down the diesel route???  I haven't actually been to see and sit in one yet.  But i have alway admired them, when i see one.

I have seen a few that i am tempted to go look at, there is a 400h SE at a Lexus Ipswich what is only 45 miles away up around 8K with 120k on the clock, this seems to be expensive considering the miles?  But it is a used Lexus approved car.  There are a couple other for around that price with fewer miles say 80k at an independent dealers or i can cough up an extra 2k and get one from Lexus with those kind of miles and SE-L trim.

The other question is, is it worth trying to get 450h over a 400h?  Pro and cons for either would be good cheers.

I hear the problem is you're travelling a long at 70 legally and just as you pass under a camera they change it to 50 - the camera becomes active immediately and photographs you 20mph over the limit enforced. I've not seen any official statement on time delay or if indeed the "story" is true. It would seem to me that after altering the limit the cameras should have at least 1 minute delay giving a 1 mile range to see them.

Yeah one of the lads i work with claims he got caught like this and i would not be surprised if they do instantly change either.

  8. I tend to stick to limit on smart motor ways, i know to many people who have been done my them, not worth the risk.  Average speed camera section's i also tend to stick to the limit, but i do not know anyone who has been caught by these and understand your frustration.  The question to ask your self is worth the risk....?

  9. Just found this build thread, good to see a local member on here, i am from Norfolk to. Your GS300 looks very nice mate i was after one of them about 18 months ago, but ended up buying a IS200 my 2nd one.  Anyway i shall keep an eye out for you around the Norwich and Norfolk area.

The first one in Manchester has been for sale for some time. I’ve went to see it when I was looking for a 430. Just not tidy enough for me. Ended up getting a mint newer 300 in end and don’t regret it one bit.

Wasn’t tidy?  The dealer was trying to tell me that it was mint?  I know its been up for sale for some time, was hoping that a possible deal could have been done if was to travel but got, not much room for haggling on the price, what kinda put me off.  But that seems to be the way with most dealers these days.

Personally I prefer the standard alloys on the GS. I have the spider alloys on my IS and I think they look great but I'm not so keen on the colour combo they've gone for. They've been refurbed as they would have been silver to start with.

I like the fact that the Derby dealer has been honest enough to highlight most of the flaws in the bodywork which look to be mostly wear and tear, and as you say £1500 is a fair amount to have on hand to address any issues that may need dealing with.

That is my thinking at the moment, keep the £1500 for any issues and if there is none i can change the wheels then.

  12. As titled and as some for you may know i have been looking at buying a GS430.  I have found two that i am considering traveling to look at.  The first one has been discussed on the forum before.

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201709069040741?model=GS 430&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&make=LEXUS&sort=distance&advertising-location=at_cars&postcode=nr66jn&radius=200&page=1

I have spoken to the dealer today and they have confirmed that the cam belt has not been done and if i wanted it done it would be an extra £400.  They also said the car has already been reduced and there is not much room to for negation.  I prefer the the over all appearance of this this one, but its over 200 miles away and i think its over priced.

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201711281631850?make=LEXUS&radius=200&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=distance&model=GS 430&postcode=nr66jn&page=1

The second one i have been looking at it just over 100 miles away, seems to have good history and the cam belt was done at 82k.  Reg is EX55SKK  and appears to have fairly good MOT history.  With having possibly having the front shock replaced back in 2014, the only bad thing on the history is someone letting the tyre wear very badly.  As i have already said i prefer the looks of the first car over the second, but i think it is the alloys that make it look that bit better and with the second one being £1500 cheaper i could easily replace the standards with a nice new set of alloys.  I think i know which way i going, just wanted another opinion form fellow lexus owners.
