  1. What about if the manifold and associated cats were left inplace and the secondary cat was removed. That should not throw any codes from the ECU, and free up some gas flow.

you'd be better removing the pre cats and leaving the main cat...the pre cats are more restrictive than the main cat...

(i removed mine and noticed a diff straight away)

how do i go about removing the pre cats?? would that mean replacing the standard manifold?!

  2. running 8x18's et35 rota d1 drifts.

already put the stiffness up on the coilovers.

its a nice tuck as low as it is but the 225 40's are catching, not sure whether to go 215/40' or 215/35's i want a bit of stretch, its not catching on the inner arch its the actual arch is catchin on,

    regards

    jim

  3. Evening guys,

just slammed the is on hsd coilovers, front is dropped about 50-60mm and rear 60-70mm however running 225/40/18's at the mo, i need to go skinnier so they dont catch the arch on lock..

    the choice is:

    215/40/18's

    or

    215/35/18's

    any ideas guys please???

    regards

    jim

  4. I did my wheels myself, they were in a ***** state with bare metal being exposed, i used nitromorse to strip all the paint off and take it down to bare metal, simply used a wire wheel on a drill to help with taking it off, once down to bear metal, rubbed them down and then used an etch primer before using a normal primer, the etch primer sticks to the alloy and allows the primer to stick to that.

It took me a while to build the layers of primer up, with rubbing them down each time.

i painted mine with a spray gun not a rattle can and was really pleased with the finish, considering my standard wheels are now my winter wheels grown quite attached to them!!!

  5. Dave ones are normal HSD's i dont think they much of a difference anyway i bought HSD's coilovers yesterday and got them today they look very solid and very nice will be fitted on Tuesday will post pics up mate

i'm too looking at the hsd coilovers, they look good and nice to know some of u have them and have had no problems, what sort of drop can you go on the front, i've got 18's with an et 35 bit concerned tht i'll have problems?

any of you running similar et's and dropped on coilovers??

  6. what grade stainless steel comes on a lexus as standard then? because i bet it isnt t304 and no my lex has been maintained with a full lexus service history, which i am continuing!!!!

tip: to tell the difference between stainless steel and stainless steel t304 grade: t304 is not magnetic where as less grades are!

ok so i cant garantee its given more performance however it is more responsive and sounds nice which hey does it for me. the fact that i will never have to pay to replace that cat back system becuause it is garuanteed for life and future owners wont have to pay to have it replaced, truely is lifetime warantee. at the end of the day i didnt want this to turn to an argument or a slaggin match of my knowledge!

at the end of the day i was putting a post to say what i had done was good and i was happy with but if thats not your cup of tea then fine....

  7. i thought if any of you lot were located in my area then as a fellow member would look after you on an exhaust system, sorry if tht isnt acceptable by your standards

the lexus comes with a mild steel system, therefore a stainless steel system that is garanteed for life, gives a performance increase and you can choose what sound you want may be of some use to you all!

  8. yes

many thanks for the reply Rob, i take that is front and rear? the reason why i ask is becuase the coilovers that i am looking at say they come with adjustable camber mounts if the vehicle has mcpherson struts etc

thanks for your time once again

    jim

  9. hi every one, first let me say a massive thanks to lexus at lincoln, they may have found out what was up with my car and it didnt cost me a penny to have a look either, plus the service they provided was second to none, so impressed with it my dad is now looking at is220d's and is250's!!! once again guys at lincoln, THANK YOU p.s the volvic water u provided me was a nice drink on the way home!!!!!

back to the topic!!! too many types of coilover to choose from can u guys who are running them tell me about urs and how u rate them?

i'm also looking at a set of HSD HR coilovers anyone running these at all??

    cheers

    jim

  10. I really think you're going to have to start taking things apart to get any further on this. Then you would be able to see if the various servo motors are working properly (I'm still a bit suspicious about the air mix servo motor), and also you'll be able to feel better whether the hot/cold air is coming from.

I've just realised that something I said earlier was wrong, the air mix servo motor is something you can look at relatively easily because it only involves removing the glove box. That will also let you get closer to some of the internals of the vents, as I said above so you can get a better idea of at which point the air flow is going wrong.

Maybe there will be something simple like you'll see something blocking the ducting internally and causing the problem ?

already had glovebox out and checked all motors seem to working, i can hear the mixer motor switchin over, seems to run smoothly and not get stuck on anything, will continue to look although i have just booked it in at lexus for them to source the problem, and advise what needs replacing!

might be able to get a group buy on some hsd coilovers through driftworks, is it worth posting it on here?

  11. Just clutching at straws here, but what happens, with the a/c off, and the engine fully warmed up, when you vary the temperature control from the minimum to the maximum ? Do you get really hot air through at the maximum setting, and ambient (outside) air at the minimum setting ? Probably best to test this when it's not hot outside, so you can notice the difference.

cheers for all your help stevie,

yeah when engine is warm it is more of an ambient temp on the passenger side, however this does change as soon as ac is turned on...

  12. What if you press the button that sets the air to recirculate, not come in from outside, does that make any difference ?

havent tried that one yet stevie, will try that 2moro night, thats for the link will have a look, not gonna be able to look properly til tuesday as i'm away racing this weekend

tried the recirculating air button and it doesnt change much, still gets cold on assenger side when it should be hot

  13. What if you press the button that sets the air to recirculate, not come in from outside, does that make any difference ?

havent tried that one yet stevie, will try that 2moro night, thats for the link will have a look, not gonna be able to look properly til tuesday as i'm away racing this weekend

  14. ok, so the a/c puts cold air to both sides ok ? But the heating only goes to one side.

What about the vents in the middle of the dash, what do they do ? Each of the two of them ?

What about the vents to the windscreen ? And the vents to the floor ?

the vents in the middle of the dash, the passenger one is always cold and the vent closer to the driver is always hot (this is obviously when i have the heating to hot) the windscreen vents yet again, passenger side is always cold and the drivers side is hot (once again when the heaters are set to hot)

I have no problems with settin the heaters to cold, all vents passenger and drivers side work fine, it is just when set to hot the passenger side out of any vent is always cold or colder than it should be, even with the ac on!!!
