  1. Having had my Alfa 147 now for 6 months (having previously had 3 IS200's), I'm now completely fed up of the merde customer service and shoddy workmanship. I've had a piece of plastic appear in a footwell, a piece of trim has fallen off a back interior panel, they've fitted the wrong ipod lead twice which has now been discontinued. There is no front end grip in the wet (I had more confidence is the real wheel drive IS!) and the only redeeming feature is the fab MPG (50MPG average).

So, not wanting something as big as the current IS, I'm after up to date gen on the fabled BS. I know it will probably come with the 2.2 4CYL diesel engine currently found elsewhere in the lex range, but is there any more info? I;d be happy with just a launch date!!!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul

  2. Hi all.

Having got rid of my is200 back in the summer, and been carless since, I'm moving to something with slightly less horse power. Well, to be honest, 1HP!!!!

I'll be riding a lot more this year and what with my polo photography, am looking at a hilux invincible.

residuals look to be great, MPG not so but won't be using it every day.

However, I'm looking for recommendations for good hilux / toyota forums.... The obvious one, www.toyotaforum.co.uk didn't even have the hilux listed!

So, it's been great owning a lexus (or three) but time to move on to something slower and more practicle (and perhaps more fun on muddy tracks!)

    Cheers all!

  3. If it's the one on eBay the guy admits he struggled putting it into the Altezza, says it's due to the wire colours. I guess at the end of the day it depends how good you are and if you are prepared to splice wires from the new loom into you existing loom which I believe it requires. I would say the mechanics are easy but the wiring may be too much even with the "instructions".

That's a good enough answer for me :-)

    Cheers!

  4. Update - my car has now been at the repairers for almost NINE WEEKS.

My confidence that the car will be returned to me in perfect condition is dwindling with each passing day. Given that they are supposed to be the official repairer for Lexus, I'll now have to refer the matter back to my local Lexus dealer to see what can be done.

Sorry to hear this.... Hope you've been coping with whatever courtesy / hire car you've been given.

This is why I;m with lexus insurrance. I know they wouldn't let the car out if it wasn't perfect and you also get another lex as a courtesy car if yours has to be repaired!

    Good luck!

  5. Hi,

I've a is200 sport, with a whole mixture of tyres on it at the mo (was like this when I bought it from a dealer) and after:

    • a spin coming off a roundabout - my first
    • seeing the insides of the front tyres completely bald

I've decided to not only replace the tyres but also get the 6 spoke styling kit alloys.

I've just had the tracking done, but am now getting mixed answers from people.

Do I have to change my camber if going from the 17's to 18's?

Will I have to get the tracking done again also?

From the rather wonderful wheels-in-motion web site, I've concluded that it was the tracking. However, I know as much about wheels as I do about animal husbandry (and even then, it's just images of vets with their hands up cows bums)

Off to Lexus hatfield at the weekend for new alloys and tyres (pirelli pzero's and alloys at 218+vat each), so if anyone can offer me a better price.... :)

  6. Saw this on the Top Gear website, is this colour a production colour? Looks great B)

    Other news:

Lexus is to bring a show car previewing the IS coupe-cabriolet, though we're unlikely to see the entry-level BS-series just yet. Expect also new LS (four-wheel drive LS460), hot IS500 and revised SC430 models, and to hear some more news on the LF-A supercar

  7. I do almost exclusively motorway type journeys and generally cruise between 60 and 70 mph. I average around 35 mpg but have, on occasions, got close to 40 mpg. Doing this sort of driving you can get over 500 miles from a tank if you're willing to drive with the warning light on.

Me also... Have had around 550 (needle resting on pin at 520).... regular 500 on motorway / a1 trips

  8. Any dvd dercrypting software which is availble free from various sites. Again, if you have Apple Quicktime Pro on you're PC or as woggledog says, most 3gp programs will have extensions to convert to iPod.

Please note: It takes a quite a while to do this process.

Hope this helps. PM for more info.  :winky:

Quicktime pro 7 is great and well worth the money, although it is slow, and a lot slower than 3GP. 3GP is free, however!

  9. Just got me a 30GB iPod video with some of the Xmas bonus money  :)  Can anyone recommend a good DVD to iPpod programme? Anyone use "ImTOO DVD to iPod Converter"?

    Any free software out there??

    Thanks in advance,

    Ash

You might be in the wrong forum here but you need two things:

    1. DVD decrypter, which removes some of the RCE protection and dumps the files on your hard disk

    2. 3GP Converter, which should have been updated to include ipod video profiles. (http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/)

extract and save 3gp converter into a folder somewhere, and just run it. it doesn't need installation. you can also select english which will help you also.

Any of the psp profiles should work with the iSnob

    Any probs, pm me

  10. Hey guys, How are your impot laws?

I want to sell my car, and I have seen some Aussie cars go to the UK. So thought might be worthwhile to advertise to the Europe group? (I cant post in for sale here anyways :()

Car is the same spec as UK IS200, but with a 1JZGTE, I suppose modifications coulc be a restriction?

Mods shouldn't be a problem although I'm guessing it would take a trusting person to buy the guy without seeing it!

Not only that, the shipping and import duties would push the price well past what you could find in the UK for a locally sourced car of the same spec!

  11. Looks like 4 Car are the only one that don't rate it

    Am confused.

apart from being a little noisy, not so much rear leg space and lack of auto for the diesel, it suggests, in some parts, that it is above and beyond the 3 series.

They really rate the car apart from the above points, and apart from the leg space, suggest the is250 is a much better car!

    Oh well.

  12. Secondly. unless demand far exceeds supply which only happens with very very few exotic cars then a car is not a unique or premium product.  It is a mass produced product which may be priced as if it were at a premium.  Lexus/Toyota produce thousands of cars a day - certainly not a unique product.

Seconded.... Toyota isn't the biggest / second biggest (depends who you speak to) car company in the world for nothing!

I still think it's daft not to ask for a discount / freebies etc.... Having spent plenty of time abroad, I ask for discounts on most things I buy... Greengrocers, hotels, flights, etc.... Everything has a margin, and most are prepared to bite into this margin even if it's just a token gesture.

I believe you're a mug if you don't ask for a discount to be honest

  13. Correct me if I've missed something but why are you selling a 8 month old Lexus?

I've just test drove a couple of cars (saab and accord) and I hate lexus!!!

It's such a great car in every respect, it's impossible to downgrade. You lose so many 'standard' features!

Keep hold of it. It's a great motor

  14. am sure this has come up before. how do i build a car pc which will be in my boot with a motorised screen in dash that will allow me to store/play, mp3,movies, and sat nav. i dont want anything fancy or complicated. i want to be able to download mp3 and movies from my home pc.

i have no hardware knowledge of computers. does anyone build and sell. as there are a few on ebay and some websites but appear too expensive.

    * what sort of budget should i be looking at.

    * is it worth the money and hussle. would it be cheaper to get a new head unit with dvd player.

    Found this to be valuable:

    BMW puter

Linitx.com is another good website for cheap bits!

    £600 should see you right
