  1. Question please - When I have the radio or CD player screen up, after a few minutes the Map displays - is this norm or have set something that I dont want as I would prefer it not to - or is it the norm. I know I can turn the screen off but would like it to remain with the radio or CD being displayed. Thank you - if you know.

There's a setting that can be changed via the general settings menu. If you go into the menu where colour etc is changed, it's there somewhere

  2. Now advised that malfunction caused by a pressure switch in the transmission and it is being replaced at this moment. I will be keeping a close watch on the dash display.

If your car ever has to be put on a transporter note that the exhausts tend to scrape the ground. Mine did but I am told no damage was done.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of months ago - the light came on on the elevated section on the M4 (which has no hard shoulder) so I phoned my local Lexus dealer, who asked me if it was driving as normal and as it was to bring it in in the morning).

    Same pressure sensor fix.

  3. I'm struggling with my mkIII GS300 in the snow, pulling from a snowy side street on to a clear main road takes forever.

I've tried putting the gearbox in snow mode and turning off the traction control but it doesn't seem to help much.

I suppose rear wheel drive & wide tyres is never going to be very good in these conditions.

How are other GS owners coping?

450h has been brilliant. I couldn't get our celica moving on our road (an ungritted but icy crescent), but the 450h has been brilliant. Snow button depressed, not a spinning wheel in sight. TCS has been kicking in up the hill (yes the crescent goes up a hill at both entrances).

I followed a neighbour and his Laguna slipped in the same places as I did.

  4. Good Morning everyone. We are on the point of changing our car from a 07 Skoda Superb Elegance to a 07 LEXUS GS 450HSE. I have just noticed comments about the boot size. Has anyone lived with the boot size on a daily basis. Is it a pain, does all the other plus points of the car make up for the (as far as I can see) the only down side of the car..Thank you

Well, I think we have found the car I will buy, before I do if I May I will tell you the deal and wait for comments. The car is an Oct 06 (56 plate)GS450H SE with sunroof in Messe red mileage is 44000 with a full Lexus service history. The car looks clean with a few chips around the front but nothing bad. Price £18990 and the part exchange on my present car is acceptable.

What do you guys think of the deal and the purchase price, good, bad, average? Should I snatch the dealers hand off or walk away. Never bought a Lexus before so asking for advise from more people with more experience than I have. I f I have a concern it is the mileage a little above the average. Thanks again

Hard to say about the price - I bought mine in April, 23 Months old with 47k - and paid 500 more. Mine is an SE without sunroof. For me it is a little expensive - the main warranty runs out this month - Is it a lexus direct car and do you get the 12 month lexus warranty?

I have a 450h of the same vintage. I moved from an Avensis with a cavernous boot.

It all depends on what you regularly do. We find that the boot is the similair to a small hatchaback. like a fiesta or maybe even a focus. Sometimes some additional though is required when planning a trip, but we have never found it to be an issue.

For all the other rewards of the car the boot can be at most, a minor inconvenience.

If you are buying from a lexus centre, why not see if you can book a 24hr test drive in a new 450h and see how it goes?

  6. It's a fault with the door mirror assembly. I had mine (passenger door) replaced under warranty 2 years ago and the problem has never returned.

Mine was dipping when you popped it in reverse (as it should do) - but wasn't returning every time when you engaged drive. It was very difficult to replicate as 9 times out of ten it would behave correctly.

Lexus Sheffield replaced mine and everythings been fine ever since.

So, I'm not going mad! Thanks

  7. Hello All,

I have an 06 plate 450h with the wing mirrors that automatically dip when you select reverse. I got the car around 7 months ago and all has ben fine, but recently the mirrors are not dipping consistently, ie each time you reverse they move to differing amounts sometimes not at all.

I have tried remomorising position etc, but no difference.

Anyone else had the same problem ?

I have recently had the same problem. Though it seems to gave gone away after I was forced to completely reprogramme the seat memory. Would be interested to know why it happened and what the solution is. Mine os on an 07 plate

  8. They are very good - it is actuallly Fish Brothers who are the lexus main dealer in Swindon - When I had my Toyota, prior to my GS, I used them several times. They are quick, reliable and helpful.

However, you will find that if you are a gold member, your local Lexus dealer may offer a substantial discount - mine in Reading/Bracknell offer it and that would save about £15 on £75

  9. I spent the day on and off fast roads, so was careful to see how mine behaved. It did not behave as yours does. I put it under reasonable motorway load for 10 mins, then managed to get into Battery mode on the slip road and keep using it where appropriate.

Later, I put the car under heavy load along the motorway and managed to get straight back into Battery mode - so I guess for me it comes down to learning some finesse over the time I have owned the car.
