  1. Cheers for all the replies some great advice as ever.

dral- I understand what you are saying about personal choice and feel so I guess giving them a go cant hurt. I have only ever driven on standard discs and pads so this is my first time. The discs are certainly warped which im not impressed at only after 900miles :tsktsk:

All I have to do now is wait till pay day

  2. I need to replace my warped discs and thought if I replace them, than why not get better ones :whistling: I have decided on Turbo Grooved discs but I am unsure on what pads. Some people have told me to go with green stuff as the car has under 200bhp, But with the car being quite heavy would Red stuff be better?

If anyone has got the turbo grooved discs could they post a picture please or direct me to one as I want to have a look before I buy.

    Cheers guys.

  3. I would like my local lexus garage to investigate whether I have warped discs or sticky calipers, but as my warrenty paper work has not yet come through, and I dont know whether it is coverd on the warrenty. Also will it cost me for them just to investigate something? The brakes are really starting to annoy me and I cant wait any longer.

    Cheers

    Sam

  4. I did warn you! Seriously, I am glad you had a good time - I'm on the Ben My Chree from Heysham at 1415 tomorrow, with the bike, and spending the next 11 days on The Island. Maybe see you in the next few days?

Kool Kool they are not to many bikers over at the moment but I suspect they will be coming thick and fast over the next week. I am sure you will see me and most likey on the Mountain Road. 98 FMN and blacked out windows :whistling: Give us a toot and a wave when you overtake me :shifty: Where are you staying? camping or hotel. O and a KTM X-bow good chance I will be in that getting scared s :tsktsk:less with my dad.

    Yep, good ain't it !

I'm looking forward to another trip to the IOM soon, not being a biker it's a bit scary though when I'm 'doing my best' under the footbridge, and a bike comes past making me look like I'm in a layby having a buttie!...followed by one in the other direction doing about...er....600MPH I reckon!

I do get quite a few surprising glances when big super bikes cant pull away in the twistys but thats only because I know the roads. It is bloody scary when you are doing 100mph and they come screaming past.

    Sounds good mate,

may come over for the TT one day, prob just as a foot passenger then have a few beers.

IIRC my mate still has a hotel on the island so hopefully have somewhere to stay.

You should definately come over for the TT but make sure you book your tickets a year in advance. It is a wonderful atmosphere (similar to Le Mans IMO) and a great sense of occasion.

  5. I took a brake from revising today and went for a blast over the famous mountain road section of the Isle of Man TT course. It is one-way for the next two week and I just had to have a go.

The lexus was terrific, the engine was very happy to rev and with the 6 speed 'box it was constantly accelerating. The steering was very informative letting me know just how much grip was left from the uniroyal tires. At one occasion entering a 90mph+ corner the car just seamlessly slide into the apex and glided back out no understeer or oversteer just a very satisfying slide. The thing that most impressed me however was the brakes. They never faded the paddle was always at the top firm and ready for the next corner. The IS200 is a great handler and much better than I expected.

    I loved it.

  6. so any updates regarding the noise?

After doing the wheels the vibration has decreased but it is still their. I am going to give lexus GB a ring as I dont believe the car has had the approved lexus 150 point check thing, and the tire is unacceptable for a approved lexus also. It is suppose to have a 1 year warranty but they is no paperwork explaining this!!

This is not a very good first impression from a company that is a high ranked contender in the JD power customer satisfaction survey. Apart from the flaws the car is astonishing.

  7. I checked the front brakes and they are not sticking. However I did find a lot of corrosion on the face of the wheel were it meets the hub and the hub it self. I sanded it down which has helped a lot but still not perfect. Any more Ideas?

Whist the wheels were off I noticed the tire has started to delaminate on the inside wall. The worst thing is they are nearly new and not covered under pre owned lexus warranty :tsktsk:

  8. Final got my Lexus yesterday from Lincoln. I am very happy with it and it seems faster then the two other ones I have driven previously. :D Just a few issues with it though, first being it vibrates through the steering wheel when braking from motorway speeds :eerrrmm: yet it has brand new disk and pads. The second of which is the drive-line shunt in stop start traffic, is this a common thing with it been quite a big engine or should I get it checked. It is by no means massive but u can definitely fell it.

Other than the two little niggles I am very pleased with it and I cant wait for my next excuss to drive it. Just waiting for the weather to brighten up before I post some piccies.

Ps: it goes in for its manx test next week so fingers crossed it will pass otherwise Lexus Lincoln will get a very angry phone call.

  9. Hi and welcome ohmy.gif)

Great car too, you'll love it!

Any plans for it or will you be keeping it standard??

    James

    Hi

I am planning on keeping the car standard for a bit, but I think I will lower it a little and maybe fit Stiffer anti-roll bars, possibly a K&N panel filter and Red Stuff brakes budget permitting of course.
