Good people,
I have a 2002 IS300 Sportscross with 93,000 miles on her, she runs very well. However the aircon is not cooling at all, though it makes all the right noises. I assumed this was just a re-gas issue, given that the car is now 7 yrs old. But apparently she requires a new compressor. The aircon geezer that did this diagnosis today - a non franchised aircon fellow - quoted £1,000 for fitting a reconditioned compressor and £1,400 for a new OEM one. This seems just a tad steep, about 25% of the probable current value of the car!
I'm near Guildford in Surrey - Hindhead to be sepcific. Anyone with any constructive suggestions would be appreciated; I have in mind specifically:
Decent aircon technicians
Source of new or reconditioned compressors
Or indeed any other ideas?
