  1. Hi there I had long suffering issue with fuel economy with my 56 plate and had numerous egr valve cleaned replaced. But eventually Lexus dealer decoked and changed piston rings. Since they done this apart from the initial run in period after having the work done my fuel economy on my run to work went from 29 -31 mpg to 38 to 43 mpg. Luckily for me even though car was out of warranty lexus carried out this work free of charge. Now I don't know whether over time this will need to be done again or not. But for the momemt I would say it was definately worth it for me.
  2. Just an Update Since I posted this, My car has nearly done the 1000 mile run in, and true to Lexus newcastles word, My Fuel economy has been the best its has been since purchasing the car. I was averaging 29 mpg now my same journey it is anywhere from 37 to 44 mpg. again my car was out of warranty and work was carried out free of charge (very pleased at that), But also disapointed that it has taken over 12 months taking car back to dealer. I hope this improved MPG lasts.
  3. Hi all I as many people on have suffered with poor Fuel economy with my IS220d. This last time lexus had my car for a week. They returned the car and advised it was fixed. But when driving it my fuel economy was worse. SO I called the Dealer and thay advised me that I would need to run the car in for a 1000 miles as it has had the Piston rings changed and the engine de-coked. My car is 56 plate with about 47000 on clock. I don't know much about engines so can anyone advise if the engine would need a run in or not. Thanks
  4. Well I have been using courtesy car for 3 days which is an 09 IS220d and was getting arounbd 40 MPG on my normal journey. But was told that I could not use this as a comparison, even though this was the garages suggestion. Well I picked up my car last nignt and no paper work to tell me what was done about the various problem I took it in for, by the by. any after being told by garage they were getting 35 -38 on mpg on the AVG MPG display. Guess what turned on engine and up came AVG display showing 32.4 MPG I am loosing faith in this dealership.
  5. Yeah well Just dissapointed on the whole with the quality of vehicle and service from Dealership. I was expecting a bit better on both. Out of curiosity what MPG did you get on the 250
  6. Hi There I was wanting members views/ Advice on the Poor MPG problem. I have had my car since july this year and so far it has been in garage an number of times. 1> Rear mirror replaced (Vibration Fault) 2> Boot Adjusted. 3> Edge of boot resprayed as was rubbing on bumper. 4> New clips for internal roof material as they came away. When I picked vehicle up I was averaging around 38 MPG. This has gradually decreased to around 29 - 30 MPG I took it into garage a few weeks back to get it checked. along with handbrake/gear checked. They test drove it for 10 mins and said they got 38 - 40 MPG on dual carriageway , and 32-34 MPG around the streets. They done this by resetting counter at start of each journey. and 32 was a reasonable MPG for Combined. They said I could book car in for a 3 day period so they could check car MPG over time and I could compare it to the Courtesy car. I arranged this. On the other Issue they said. Gearbox = Normal for IS220 Handbrake= Normal It should be on atleast 5 clicks. Off I toddled. Update Rang garage for an update They have advise they are getting 35 mpg on a 10 mile journey. I advised them I was getting 38 on courtesy car over 2 day period without resseting counter. so this was a difference of 9 MPG over the same journey. They said That although they were both IS220 mine was 56 plate theirs was 09 plate so I could not use it as a comparison. I asked then why suggest it. What are your views.
  7. No But believe it or not it was in the dealer in Newcastle parked next to the car I bought. I remember it because the sales guy asked if I was interested in it and mentioned that it came with the private plate. which dealer was it lexus newcastle? im off to have a look on the net too see what its selling for, it was sent to an auction in leicestershire. It was not there when I took mine in this week, as I have had mine a month But if I remember it was up for 11,495 or 11,995

  9. HI there Does anyone have any issues with poor fuel economy. I have had my 56 plate for about a month and had a few problems Shakey rear view mirror - Dealer replaced paint loss on boot where it meets rear bumber - dealer resprayed But now my fuel economy has dropped from around 38 MPG to 32 MPG I Took it to dealer who said they could do tests. after about 45 mins they came told me they reset ECU and they took it for a test drive and economy was fine this is what I should expect. I have read something about a 5th injector causing issue. Is there a way I can find out if this has been done to my vehicle. Thanks
