  1. My gear box has been whining for a while now but so far have had no problems till recently. The gears are starting to clunk more when changing and there is a clicking sound when I dab the throttle or changing gear. It does sound like its coming from the box or could it be something else?

Also. My clutch is squeeking like crazy when i put it in and out. I read on here that I need to grease up the clutch cylinder to stop the noise. I've have done this twice now using different kinds of grease and it lasts about a day then the squeek comes back. Is there a special grease to use like copper grease?

With my gearbox I was thinking of changing it. I have been on thw web and have received quotes for recon boxes. Around 250 quid. Is this a good deal. Also has anyone done this before and how reliable are the recon boxes.

    Thanks

    for any replies

    1) the squeeking is coming from the ball that the clutch fork sits on mate

2)leave the box alone no point in changing if theirs sod all wrong with it(make sure theirs something wrong with it first)

3)release bearing could be whining also sounds like your clutch is worn thats why its clunking and the clicking could be the dues mass flywheel coming to the end of its life....

So this clunking noise is completely normal and there's nothing wrong with the car at all??

  2. Hi I tried to change my sat nav disc today, found the box, took the metal cover off and seen a black plastic cover. There's a plastic button that slides across but it just makes a whirring noise and doesn't do anything!

hi,press the same button inwards or one near it(if i am not wrong)and this should eject the disc, however make sure the bit that slides across is open and not closed enabling the disc to eject(hope this makes sense?)

As above did mine couple of weeks ago...open slide..push and hold until ejection!!

Found it! The cd seemed clean, but the 2003/2004 version but it kept coming up with "check data cd". I'm using the original one now but it came up with that error agina, I unplugged it and plugged them back in firmly. Seems ok now but I've got a feeling its just temporary!

  3. Hi Dan,

    whereabouts are ya?

I had mine done at city powder coater in brum, took about 9 days - finished in sparkle silver, look amazing - £20 a wheel they charge £10 to take of and re-fit tyres though.

I was going to say the same, they're the cheapest I know, might be worth driving down if you're not to far from B'ham. Average price is about £40 per wheel, I think £269 is far too much.

  4. Hi guys,

I am looking to buy the latest nav CD for Ireland, France and Spain for my 2001 IS200 sport.

Unfortunatly I don´t have the old CD to see the serial number but I did look in the boot and

on top of the CD box it said 86841-53021 (is this the serial??) the car is a previous GB import.

Do they still produce updated CDs for the older models??

Or does anyone know where to buy second hand ones even from a couple years ago.

    Much appreciate any help here,

    Thanks.

    I have one ......2003/2004 ver1

You're welcome to it, If you do, pm me you're address :luck:

If it's not wanted by GNZ, I'll have it! :)

  5. There's a metal box to the right, do I just take the bolts off and open that? What do I clean it with or just wipe it with a clean soft cloth?

That metal box is the nav unit, you don't need to unbolt the whole unit, just the panel covering the front of it.

I cleaned mine with a soft lens cloth, as long as you use something soft so as not to scratch it it should be ok. If it's very dirty then you might need to use some kind of lens/cd cleaner.

I've sorted it now, I just unplugged the two clips and plugged them back and all is ok. Thanks for all your help :)

  6. Might be a stupid Q, but where is the disc?

It's in the boot, lift up carpet and plastic tray, it's on the right of the spare wheel. You'll need to remove the cover from the front to remove the disc.

  7. How can you update the sat nav in the IS200 Sport? Mine's coming up with some error message and update dvd etc, I will get the exact message and put it on the thread later today

Try taking the disc out and cleaning it - I had the same problem a few years ago, a good clean sorted it.

If you want to update, visit www.lexus-mapupdates.eu :)

  8. How easy is it to remove side repeater lens? I dont want to go digging around the wing marking the paint..is there a knack to getting them off also if any1 knows what kind of bulb it takes so I can get sum chrome 1's to lose the fried egg look lol

    Thanks.

I'm sure it will be a standard 501 bulb, don't hold me to it though.

  9. i got a 2001 sport navigator. I love the way it sits just want it a little bit lower on my new wheels. would lowering springs be a waste of time as the back looks lower now than most other is200's i see.

As you can see its not too bad on the back. but on the front it's a bit too high for me. I don't want to spend a fortune on coilie's if i can help it.

Advice is would be much appreciated. Cheers guys.

I think the coilovers would be a waste of money, reason being the sports version after 2001 is 15mm lower than the other IS200s. I would go for lowering springs as they would be a cheaper option but remember to take off 15mm, so, 40mm springs will only lower yours by 25mm. Hope that helps.
