As far as insurance and reselling the vehicle goes no one is any the wiser. When a car is stolen and recovered, depending on the cirumstances it then becomes either registered or unregistered. In this case it was actually registered as stolen but once it was recovered the police and the insurance company removed the 'stolen' marker from both the HPI register and the DVLA Swansea. It is therefore completely clean and to be treated as a private sale from the previous owner to myself.
If the car was damaged in any way then it would have been registered as a cat c or cat d write off, but luckily this was not the case. Checked wiith my local Lexus dealers in Newcastle who looked into it and also confirmed that the warranty is valid and tha the car is to be treated as normal!
After having spoken to the previous owner it turns out that he left the car running on the forecourt of a petrol station in Birmingham whilst buying some cigarettes, not surprisinly, someone saw the oppertunity and drove his innocent baby away. It was then found 2 months later by the police, by which time the insurance company had already replaced the vehicle.
I am not usaully one to take £9,000 risks so made sure that all was good before agreeing.
Just cant wait to get her now! :D
