Hello all, had my LS600hL 4 months now and noticing that at higher speeds (40/50mph above) i have a wind noise coming from somewhere near top of drivers door - also sometimes when vehicles go past its almost like you can hear them slightly more than you should be able to with double glazing. All the seals look perfect and the window seems to be sitting snuggly when fully closed, so stumped. Anyone else had this issue?

i wound the window down this evening to look closer at the edge of the window and there are no knicks in the glass. Also checked along the top ledge where the window sits when fully closed and the one thing i did notice is the area inside where the little bit that protrudes out from the trim has little holes within it - but when comparing to the passenger side in same area that section has the indentations in same place but the holes are filled in. What is this little area and could that be my problem?

    many thanks!

My Ls600 has the same problem but it is hardly noticeable, especially with music on...

So...... can anyone provide the name & spec of a battery that is a suitable replacement on the LS600H, that can be ordered offline & be virtually like for like?

    TIA

I cannot provide you with the answer just share my experience:

My car is serviced by a Lexus dealer so I told them to order a new Battery, then took the car, they fitted and then the bill!  Over £200!!! (my previous Ls 400 &430 took a standard 12v Battery (cost from Lexus under £100... Explanation provided me : the 12V Battery for Ls600 is specially made so as to avoid starting a fire with the hybrid Battery.  All good and well ... Next time I told the dealer to order me another Battery in case the problem I was experiencing was because of the Battery.  They advised me that the special Battery was not immediately available so they would get me a standard Battery!  (Temporarily?  I don't know, in the event I didn't need it.) So I guess it's your choice.  Have no idea where you could the special Battery other than Toyota/Lexus.

I own a 2010 ls600hl, it has the self parking, but as it so lengthy to setup, it is vurtually useless.

I won't know how you would get 25mpg plus around town, but you can 30mpg on the motorway.

There is the self parking button on the steering wheel on the left hand side, just below brake hold assist

The person asking the question was interested because the self-parking somehow facilitated the use of music player to be installed as feature not on that particular model.  You're absolutely right that the self-parking is useless: I just read about it and forgot about it: it did seem to me that just setting it up,assuming that it is really accurate, would take so long I couldn't be bothered and if I was to try it in town I'd probably be run out of town!😁

  4. Mine is a 2007 and has the self-parking. It is the (basic) 5 people model but I have no idea if it was an option or not.

Compared to the latest cars it may seem thirsty but considering it an (almost) 2.5 tons hybrid with a 5.0l V-8 I don't think that 27-28mpg combined and over 30mpg on the motorway (at 70mph) is too bad.  But you do need to be aware that the hybrid Battery will be over £2K (likely to need changing) and the suspension (air) (most likely to need replacing) will run at over £1K per shock, per corner and the control arms are also quite expensive. On the plus side it is a real pleasure to drive and super comfortable.

Knowing what I know now (having previously had a Ls430) if I had the choice I'd choose the La430 as it is not quite as expensive to run.  Maintenance aside the Ls600hl is much better car and it also has awd  (By the by I didn't have the choice when I bought the  Ls600: there was no Ls430 I could have bought at the time).

I updated the one from my 2009 GS450h. Think 2014 was as modern as the discs can possibly be with the DVD system.

The one thing that is really nice with the Lexus Nav is the lovely female voice when you are abroad telling you "You have crossed the border".

About 3 years ago I purchased a 2017 Sat nav DVD from Lexus and it works well (just a few things missing like parts of the A14 between the A1 and M11 missing).  I think that was the last DVD update.

  6. As below, over 22000 and Lexus just checked them yesterday: 4 left on the front and 5 on the rear so definitely recommend Michelin Climates... And the Ls600hl is a heavy car with AWD.  I thought the rears would show more wear but obviously not.  Will rotate the next set.

  7. 22546 miles and more to go on Michelin Cross climate 2.  Balanced (by Lexus Sheffield) when installed only and nothing else.  Also used to get good mileage out of Vredstein tyres but the Michelins are better (and more expensive, of course). Not sure what difference it makes but current Lexus is AWD.

I have had the same experience with Lexus Leeds and the service manager Jordan Robinson.

I called in last Friday to book in for a service. It is approaching 100k and it's 16 years old. It is booked for Wednesday 1st November.

The cost of a big service is £660 and I am told that includes a timing belt replacement!

    I recon that's good value!

Must be a Northern thing then!

  9. The one time I had non-OEM (can't remember what brand they were) fitted by Jemca on my Ls400 they were very noisy (squealed, squeaked) throughout their life.  To be fair Jemca gave me the choice and let me know that they would be noisy but how noisy could they be, I thought.  Suffice to say I will not be repeating that experience although functionally they were ok .

I think Gen's post might be your best thoughts going forward

Most other Ls owners never get around to wanting to change their cars  ..  take me for instance, 25 yrs with a ( my third )  Ls400 and some 250k miles under my belt I think and could never think why I would want to change ( sideways maybe ) to a different Ls style

Your comparison of knowledge from one specific owner will be very difficult to find methinks

    God luck anyway

    Malc

I didn't want to change either. I just had no choice!

  11. Based on my experience (1998 Ls400 followed by 2005 Ls430 and now Ls600hl) while all three offer a beautiful comfortable, smooth ride, I would go for the LS430 with the standard (not the air, unless you're willing and able to spend a lot of money fixing it) suspension.  I think there is general agreement that it is really hard to tell the difference between the air and standard suspension, except for the cost of repairing it. And indeed people who bought LS cars with air suspension, when it failed, more often than not replaced it with the standard version.  Also, the Ls430 is still considered to be the best, most reliable of the three (mentioned above) if not of them all!  I only went with the Ls600hl because at the time I couldn't find an Ls430.
