  1. Hi Guys, just a quick query:... Does anyone know if it is possible to program the head/parking lights to turn on when pressing the unlock button on the remote? (Similar to how the interior and puddle lights come on). Thought it might be a cool feature to have - especially in dimly lit carparks! Thanks in advance for any comments - this board has helped me out on more than one occasion!
  2. Welcome to the club. I've had mine since Feb last year and I still love it. I see that you are in South Yorkshire - go and see Chris/Gary at the service dept at Lexus Sheffield and get a service plan to budget the cost of your future services. You get a free MOT for each year you have the plan which will save you a few quid. Not sure how much it saves on the individual costs of the services, but paying monthly means I don't have to worry about a £200-£300 bill coming out of nowhere. They will also put your details onto their computer and check to see if the car needs any recal work. When I did the same last year it showed that the car needed the rear brake calipers looking at and the stearing rack checking. Also got the benefit of a full valet and VSR check while they were at it which showed the car I'd bought was a good one after all. I love the beige interior also - goes really well with the Brechin Slate colour of mine (also a '55' Reg Nov 2005 IS250SE/MM). Cheers Phil Thanks for the advice Phil, i'll do that because i have been in touch with Chris previously when i was first looking to buy - unfortunately i found one elsewhere first! I think the car has the famous dashboard rattle but other than that i cant find a single fault.
  3. Well iam now the proud owner of an IS250 SE Auto MM!! Picked it up saturday morning and have been beaming ever since!! :D The beige leather really brightens up the interior and fits in well with the canterbury blue exterior. And that engine is a dream to drive - so smooth and responsive! its a far cry from the diesel vauxhall i used to have!
  4. Hi Guys, Last month i posted a topic with a satnav query as i was in the market for a 2006 220d. First of all, thanks to all who posted a reply, but thanks also to those who convinced me to consider the 250 Auto! Yesterday i put a holding deposit on a Nov 2005 IS250 auto SE Multimedia 49k miles for £13k, and will be viewing the car at Sytner Lexus Milton Keynes on saturday. I have picked up on the forum about the known issue on some cars with a dashboard rattle, but please could you let me know if there are any other known issues that i should look for, or any recalls that i need to make sure have been carried out. Also, what are your comments on a 2005 model? - i realise this is one of the earlier models so are there problems that may have been rectified on later cars? Thanks for reading and i look forward to any replies!
  5. Ive seen some 2006 reg 220s and 250s going for around 12-13k at independant garages - around 50k miles and with leather/satnav. Should i steer away from these examples?
  6. Thanks for your help. As far as i'm aware there both group 13. Surely though, if you can afford several grand for a car, another £100 a year on the insurance aught to be a fairly non-issue? As for fuel economy if you can barely afford to run one, you aught to recalculate your fuel costs at around 20% lower than the official figures, as most users on the forum are only getting around mid 30's some upto around 40mpg on the diesel which is only about 10% more than people are getting on the petrols in practice, so if you find one for £1000 less used, it could end up cheaper and you'll have the better car at the end of it. I think the 250 is group 14, and as iam 23 and coming off being a named driver to my own insurance, the difference seems to be significant with the quotes ive been given so far. I do need to look further into this though, and maybe i might be able to plump for the 250. Problem is though, there doesnt seem to be many available at the dealers at around 13k with leather seats and satnav - the options i must have. Should i consider an independant/local garage, or is this a bad idea? I would prefer to get one from a lexus dealer but few are available and no doubt more expensive.
  7. Thanks for your comments guys. I considered an auto 250 originally, but the insurance and fuel costs would just be too much for me unfortunately. I had a 'test drive' of a 220 only a week or so ago, after some chav decided to plant his fiesta's engine in the boot of my astra sporthatch! I agree that the auto 250 is the best option, but just not viable for me, and i fell in love with the 220 to be honest. Would you say the update disc is a must? what should i be prepared to pay for this?
  8. Hi Guys, Iam looking into buying a 220D in the next month or so (tax and insurance dictate!). Due to budget restraints i will most likely be looking at a 2006 model, and would only purchase one with the Mark Levinson satnav system (gadget freak!). What are your comments on the 2006 version of the Mark Levinson system? - is the guidance useless compared to TomToms (ive heard that in-built navs can be poor), is it compatible with ipod? Secondly, does the 2006 version require the cutting of wires to enable blocked features whilst driving? - i think i remember reading somewhere that earlier models have a hidden menu to unblock features. Thanks in advance for any comments.
