  1. I take it you're in Alfreton then? I'm in Riddings,if you need any help with the brakes PM me.

Thanks for the offer , I fitted the pads this morning only a 15 min job.. just wanted to make sure there were no electric pumps on the brake systwem . As the missus has SL500 Merc and if you push the pistons back in the calipers to fit new pads it ruins the electric pump and you end uop with a £1000 bill :shutit:

  2. Hi,

The brakes are pretty conventional on the front and on the rear if they are like the LS with separate drums for the handbrake/parking brake so just follow normal pad replacement procedures, be aware of the wear sensors and don't damage them during the replacement.

When pushing the pistons back to accommodate the new pads release the bleed nipple on the caliper to prevent the back flow of fluid which could cause damage to the seals elsewhere in the braking system.

    No special tools are required.

Thanks for your help, I cant believe you are situated in the same town as me B)

  3. There's a big list of 'how to' topics in the GS section here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=60901

One of the ones it links to lists front brake pad install here http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/brake/fbpad.html

It says for an LS400 but looks very similar to doing IS200 so not sure if GS300 also like that.

There's links to workshop manuals too which might be useful.

Found someone else asked the same question recently so here's that one http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=68970

Links to a different 'how to' so perhaps that's more like it.

Hope there's something in that lot to help somewhere.

    TG

Thanks for the links, I have had a look , most of the info refers to the IS models, but it looks just a normal 10 min job to swop the pads , no electric pumps to worry about..I will get on the case tomorrow and get them swopped

    Thanks again Tim
