  1. As title, is there anyone in the Glasgow area that could do a headgasket repair on my is200?

-My temp gauge has shot up a few times.

-Not really noticed any loss of coolant. although under the expansion cap there is a lot of rusty residue.

-No mayo gunk stuff underneath my oil cap.

-Low oil pressure light comes on when starting the car from cold, but disappears when temp reaches normal.

I took it to a garage on monday, thinking it was a dodgy switch or something that activates the fan as when the temp goes over normal the fan does not kick in. Although pressing A/C button turns it on. They told me they did a pressure test on it and they believe its 100% the head gasket.

Was hoping someone on here would be able to help me out with a decent price and hopefuly trustworthy!

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hello guys, i wanna ask a question about installing a pair of headrests. The headrests in questions are these ones:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XTRONS-HM703Y-2x-7-H...=item2c5313e410

They have two RCA cables, from each monitor.

The dvd player i have is this one:

    http://www1.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-7-widescree...onitor-with-DVD

it has one RCA input and one output.

Im having trouble connecting it upto to my dvd player, i know il have to buy a splitter to allow both monitors to be conected to my dvd player, but atm i can't even get one of them to show whats playing on my dvd player.

    Please help!

  3. Well I didnt take the glass out in the end..

A dose of WD40 helped but it was still stopping. So I took a paint brush and a lot of hot soapy water and brushed all around the joint. Then kept playing with the mirror open / close button helping the mirror round the point of sticking and using the brush on the joint... eventually the wing mirror started to open and close on its own, so I have put this down to a lot of grime in the mirror joint.

    Fixed.

nice one mate! will try that out!

  4. First off, i have done a search and every squeeky noise thread seems to be the brakes.

Is this the only possible thing the squeeky noise could be coming from? the pads were checked at kwik-fit just over a month ago and had loads of life left in them. Going to get my friend of the family mechanic to have a look at it tomorrow but what do you guys think?

    Thanks

    Mo

will people stop going to kwik fit!!!!!!!!!!!they are not tecs or mechanics all they do is rob people by fitting thongs that are not needed...

remove the rear pads scuff the friction material with 60 grit sand paper give the calipers a wee clean rebuild using copper slip on the contacts of the pads noise will be gone!!

eventhough they noise is there even when im not breaking, i tried to get a recording of it but the wind is too strong at the moment :(

yip it could be but it could also be the backing plates..

backing plates? well ill get those pads of tomorrow and get the copper greese out!

  6. I've done the folding mirror on locking the car mod, but i dont think it has anything to do with my problem.

Before i done the mod i could see that my driver side mirror folded in and out a lot slower than my passenger side one. And after the mod its still the same. I wasnt bothered by it, but now, when they fold out as i switch on the ignition the driver side mirror stops at a point. and i need to use the button to bring them in and back out. Using the button, it never stops half way. But i obv done the mod so i didnt have to use the button. Any ideas guys?

    Thanks

  8. I would be worried about the oil and the explanation you have had. It is essential that oil comes up to pressure quickly and coats all the moving parts ASAP. If the oil is "thick" and the pump is working I would expect the oil pressure to be higher. So IMHO something is wrong there.

Although the above may well cause the engine to overheat you would expect the fans to come on so something different amiss there. Do not drive it if it's that hot as it will quickly blow the head gasket and more.

oh no :( if the oil pressure is low, surely the light would stay on after the temp has reached normal temp? As i never see the light come on again until im starting the engine from cold.

Im going to get the oil changed. And i will be looking over the coolant levels in a couple hours after the car has cooled down.

  9. Hello guys, was wondering if you could help me out. But first ill give you all the info.

During the ridiculous cold winter we've had my low oil pressure light has been coming on when i first start the engine but disappears when the engine reaches normal temperature. Now i have the understanding that this is ok as its just the coldness thickening the oil and causing the engine to think that there is no oil pressure. But when the oil heats up its thins out and all is well.

-Can someone please clarify if that is indeed the case please?

This morning after about a 20 min motorway drive i arrived in the city centre and some traffic. I noticed that the temperature needle moved from the middle to about 3/4 up the gauge. I pulled over and saw that the fans weren't coming on. I let the engine cool down a bit then continued to where i was going, the temperature gauge moved back upto 3/4 but luckily not for long as i had reached my desintation.

I've made a search of the forum and looked into over peoples overheating problems. But im wondering if my two points are linked at all? Im not the best at understanding the engine mechanics but i do understand that the fan should be kicking in when the temp goes over midway. Im also guessing that the only reason that the temp was reading higher than halfway while i was on the motorway the air hiting the front of the car was obviously cooling the engine.

Looking over the search results i can see that there may be something small that is causing the problem, perhaps the thermostat or the switch that engages the fans?

Any help would be great, thanks.

  12. got the cable mate but took the glovebox off i cnt find the amp ??

its on the left hand side behind the glove box. There are two black 10mm bolts on the underside of the glove box and one gold nut right next to the amp itself to undo. then you can pull the amp out a lil and disconnect the bigger out of the two plugs and fit it to the corresponding plug on your by pass cable.

  13. be careful on the stereo mate, i bought a broken one off ebay first to practice and i demolished it! there just so damn small!

Just a quick tip, when doing the stereo, you dont actually need any solder. if you just heat up the existing and pic the led off with tweezers, place the new one on and just heat it back up again, when i tried using solder i got in a right mess and ended up with solder across both connectors. Bad Times!!

sorry to bring up an old thread but im looking to change the bulbs on my instrument panel ( the clocks, speedo etc) and the heaters,A/C etc.

just to confirm, i need 3 of these for the heaters and A/C

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=neo+wed...e&_osacat=0

and for my intstrument panel i need 5 of these

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=neo+wed...0&_osacat=0

not so sure but if someone could correct me that would be great

    thanks

  14. Just tried the headlight washer jet and only the drivers side one works properly.

The other one just comes out, doesn't spray anything and comes down a bit slower than the other.

    Any ideas anyone?

Might be useless, but might help you out. I had this problem too, i pulled out the washer and pushed it back down. Felt a lot of resistance when i pushed it down, dont know it is the water frozen in the pipe or whatever but after a couple of times doing that over and over, i tried it again and voila!

    Hope this helps mate

  15. Sorry i havent replied to this post,on other forums ive been on i get an email when a reply to a topic ive started is made.

i take it you are changing the oem stereo?

if so you can use the standard bypass lead availiable on ebay and then you need a nav bypass unit.

PM me if you cant find the nav bypass unit..
