  1. thanks i may have to order it. i checked my workshop manual looks like you have to remove the entire rack to do it properly. but im sure it can be done with it still in place. please correct me otherwise. or i can hit the existing one with a hammer HARD! to straighten it up :) lol
  2. thank you, can you tell me what is needed to do the job part number etc i do have the full workshop manual thanks to a good friend. and im not sure where the part numbers are? unless im missing something . i probably wont do it myself but id like to know. is it a case of bolting off the end swaping it and bolting it back together. or is it a big job strip the rack down jib? if its simple could someone give me a brief guide. and will it need tracking again. thanks.
  3. thank you i will look into getting it sorted. thanks
  4. thanks, is it a complete rack i need or can i change the rack end that is bent? thanks
  5. hello with the snow and ice last week i have kerbed my is200 quiet badly to the point where the steering wheel is no longer straight when i am driving in a straight line, i have been advised that it is my N/S Rack end and i have bent it (not visable), I was also told the ends cannot be replaced and i am in need of a complete steering rack. i have uploaded a pic of what is bent and am looking for some advise on what i need to do to fix it. - thanks in advance.
  6. thanks for your reply ill get it sorted when the weather gets better, snowing here, so going to have to use it as is for now. thanks for your help
  7. hello, signed up yesturday as i have a problem which started then. firstly when going out to the car to go down the shops i started it up and went to reverse out of my parking space and the steering was very ver stiff and make a nasty metal on metal noise, after checking the forums i checked my fluid and looked brown, so i decided to drain it and put some fresh fuild in (Dexron III). after that the steering was stiff but drivable and the noise had gone, after doing some research it has come to my attention that i needed to bleed it, so i did it by removing the cap and steering left right, left right etc. now when i go to drive it its sometimes stiff to start with but then softens up as i use it, after switching off for 5 mins and starting back up its stiff for a short while and then softens up and is perfect, have i bled it incorrectly? or is there something else at fault, the nasty sound has now gone. im wondering if anyone has any advise and maybe a bleeding guide if i have done it incorrectly. Thank you in Advance! the car is a 2000 IS200 SE. Thanks.
