  1. Hi,

My 2015 Premier's Rear revering camera is not as clear at the camera on my previous car (IS250 F-Sport 2010).

The Quality isn't as sharp/clear. It does the job but I feel it was a move backwards in this day and age of digital imaging.

Anyone else noticed this, Lexus said the picture is normal. I wondered if there was a fault with the camera lens or could the lens be altered to improve it???

  2. I might not have explained the problem clearly. The problem only arises when the car is parked and locked and the power magic pro is turned on to still feed power to the camera. The system shuts down after about 6 hours or so. It operates perfectly otherwise. The same equipment was used in my previous car and the parked/record facility recorded for a much longer period of time (days). I also installed the same set-up in my wife's car and that works fine too. Her car camera records for days whilst it's parked unused.

Thanks, fuse box was what I had been looking at, but didn't want to force the cover, as couldn't see it clearly, now accessed, looking to install a Blackvue 2ch (£239 from ebay) do you know if the fuses are mini or micro fuses?

I installed a blackvue with power magic to save draining the car Battery and I've noticed that the hybrid system on the car seems to shut down the power to the power magic to soon. I've done two installs using the same set up on non hybrid Lexus and it's not been an issue.

  4. I fitted a full set at the weekend and it was a very easy job, the only thing is you have to remove the back wheel in order to drill one small hole in the bumper lip.

I personally don't think it spoils the look of the car and you can buy them as either a front set or a back set from Lexus which is handy. It think the full set will cost you about £80 but then I got my gold member discount off of that to which brought the price down.

  5. Hi,

I am looking to install my old dashcam into my new car (IS300h) and need to know what fuses do what.

The fuse box I am looking at is the internal one under the dash on the passenger side.

I can't find the information in the Handbook and the description on the fuse cover in too brief.

I'm looking for a permanent feed (maybe brake/stop lights) and a feed when the ignition pos 1 comes on (such as cigar lighter maybe).

Does anyone have a proper detailed list of which fuse does what?

    much appreciated!

  6. Rear Camera
Quality of image seemed sharper on Series 2 IS250, also IS300h camera prone to water droplets fogging lens. Series 2 never suffered with this and lens was always clear.

    Water Traps
More gaps on IS300h than Series 2, makes leathering a pain!

    Wheel Spray
IS300h kicks up more spray off the road, Series 2 wheels were tucked under the arches more and hardly suffered with road spray.

    Boot Lid
IS300h feels lighter and thinner metal.

    Voice Command
Temperature control removed from IS300h. This was the only voice command I found useful in the Series 2.

    Rear Wheel Arch Liners
Series 2 had soft fabric inner liners that softened the road noise when wet.

    Pop Up Bonnet
Remove this feature or a way of switching it off. Too costly to repare.

  7. Road noise

Lexus tended to shoe the cars with Bridgestone Turanzas, etc. Not the best for noise or tramlining in my opinion.

I now run with Goodyear. Recently put Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance on the front and it is massively better and much quieter. No tramlining at all.

Car now feels really 'planted' on the tarmac.

Do the tyres have the rim protectors? I'm thinking of changing my from Bridgestone but it's a costly move if I get it wrong.

Back to the original question, I have now done 57,000 miles over 5 years in my IS250 and my driving is a mixture of around town and motorway driving. My highest mpg is 41 but I also get 37 every so often. My worst is 24 when I've driven around London all day. These figures are my calculated mpg on fill ups.

  8. Hi Folks

Would somebody please confirm the type of fuse used in the IS250.

The fuse box I am interested in is the one located under the dash on the drivers side.

Are they called 'Mini Blade Fuses' or is there a proper technical name used?

I am looking to attach 'Piggy Back' leads to hardwire in a dashcam.

Before I purchase the leads, I just wanted to make sure I am buying the correct ones.

    many thanks
