Thanks for the replies. I guess that this small selection of samples proves that no fault exists on my own car which is welcome news. What is doesnt answer is why the hell is it programed that way. If it is "warming up" then it takes c20 miles to reach temperature and therefore for this feature to change. Bit daft if you ask me and must rob some mpg which as we all know is not a key attribute of the car. Robert

I recently purchased a 10,000 mile is220. The tickover is stable at c850 rpm but rises to 1200 rpm as soon as the heater fan is operated. However, this only happens when the car is stationary. My local Lexus dealer says "they are all like it" Could I get some real world feedback to confirm if this is the case. If I "load" the electrical circuit with heated seats, cd player, heated windows etc but no fan the tickover remains at 850rpm so the increase experienced when using even the first fan setting cannot be load related.
