  1. The radiator is getting hot at the top and bottom so my dad seems to think the fluid must be flowing and not blocked and the thermostat must be open. When I switch the AC on the fans turn on and the engine temperature returns to normal. Is their anything else electrical it could be? Thanks.
  2. My car is overheating because the cooling fan is not switching on. If I turn on the AC both fans start working. I have replaced the temperature detection switch at the bottom of the radiator which made no difference. I had a new radiator last year, any ideas what else it might be? Thanks
  3. The boat will take about an hour and a half and the tunnel is half the time but you can use the time on the boat to eat. Take the shortest route by water as your Lexus is much quicker than any boat. I took mine to France 6 years ago and alot of the french were staring at it, dont think they had seen many before. You wont need breakdown cover, you have a Lexus. I am sure I read somewhere that the speed camera warnings on the satnav are illegal in Europe. You might want to check just so you know so you can quickly turn it off. Enjoy the stress free roads.
  4. Ok thanks for the advice, you are probably right, the car is perfect otherwise, I was dreading him taking it to bits and finding more things wrong. I have found an engine but its a out of a car thats auto, mine is manual, does anyone know if the bell housing etc is the same, thanks.

  6. Its quite bad now, should of got it done last year, the engine management light came on last week and the code was the O2 sensor in the cat, probably the oil. Really, change engine? Was going to get my dad to do it so wont be paying garage price, would you still replace engine? thanks.
  7. if the engine is looked after these engines will easily cover 250.000 miles Thanks, I need to get the valve seals replaced as its smoking when started. The engine has been well looked after but the mileage is 175,000. Any idea if anything else might need replacing, just trying to estimate cost and time involved.
  8. I have an IS200, year 2000. Can anyone advise on how many miles the engine will do before the piston rings need changing, approximately, thanks.
  9. I have alot of smoke at start up, does anyone know if any special tools are required to replace these.
  10. Thanks for the replies, I havnt experienced any fade, yet, so will get those parts checked out.
  11. I have had a bad brake judder for quite a while. The car does not brake smoothly it feels like the braking is strong then slower then back to strong etc. I have no steering wheel judder. I replaced the front discs and pads with Lexus parts but this made no differenced at all. The brakes work fine but wondered if anyone has any ideas what else it might be, thanks.
