  3. hi, glad you like them... well i paid £70 for four alloys from ebay..(he only had them on for an hour and i quickly grabbed them)...i paid £100 for four very good used low profile tyres... so £175 all in for the wheels... (I managed to sell my original alloys that where on the car (on ebay) for £120... :) :winky: :D so managed to snatch a good bargain.. Thanks for that - Billy Bargain - well done that man! My search continues :winky:
  4. Look great - would also be interested in where you sourced them from and the £Damage? really suit!
  5. Thanks Steve - I am too clumsy with my big mits to attempt what I imagine to be a tricky repair with soldering etc. Not in any great rush so give me a shout next time your coming up and that would be great - cheers, top man! I will of course pay for the service! If it gets any worse in the meantime I might dismantle it and send it to your recommendation. Over the weekend it came on first time even though the car had been sitting for days without moving. Then on some other mornings its 15mins or so before it kicks into life. Maybe the temp was higher over the weekend....is it temp related?
  6. Hi I am looking for someone in Scotland to fix my blinky dash prob. 1994 LS400 - dash lights up only after 20 mins or so of driving. Is it a Lexus only job or do any of you know someone to recommend north of the border - as close to Glasgow as poss would be ideal! Thanks
  7. ok so only one dude who uses oil and wheels - Tnanks all :P
  8. Thanks for the info Steve thats really helpful. Anyone else with their opinions? Thanks
  9. I was attending my Niece's wedding on Saturday at Oulton Hall - I didnt know the Lexus thing was on but it was great to see the cars in the flesh although due to the wedding I didnt get to test drive anything. If you saw a guy wandering around with a kilt on it was me...small world!
  10. Hi Guys - my first reach out for some advice. Acquired 1995 LS400 - its done 162k and runs sweet. My question is what sort of oil should I be using - synth/semi synth etc given the mileage and is there any advice on brand etc here from you experienced ones. Also I am running the standard 16" wheels that are beginning to look a bit tired. If I change them I might go to 17" for the tyre availability but I dont want to comprimise the ride quality. What wheel tyre combo can I run without fouling the arches etc etc. Any and all advice greatly appreciated - especially if it relates to my questions :winky:
  11. LOL - I have been warned by the good lady that I am not to even mention changing or purchasing another vehicle for at least a year.... The MX5 is actually very liveable in the winter as long as we dont have the 4 ft of snow - I am sure between the 2 I will cope :winky:
  12. I can vouch for Autoglym and Meguiars. I used the Meguiars 3 step process (I believe it is the deep crystalyou mentioned) and got great results. Regardless of what is used as a polish, wax or sealant it will be limited by how well the paint surface has been prepared. Step 1 of the Meguiars treatment is to deep clean and de-contaminate the paintwork but for truly stunning results a clay bar kit really needs to be used. As has been mentioned you really need to put a full day aside to do it properly but its worth it (especially on a dark coloured car) If the scratches etc are particualry noticable a machine polish might be the way to go....
  13. Hi all - I have been lurking for a while, whilst looking for my first Lexus. I have just acquired a 1995 LS400 in White and I think I a converted for life. I looked at a couple of GS300's also but ended up with the LS as I got such a good deal on it. Alwas been a jap car fan having had my fiar share of Mazda 323's and I am now on my 4th MX5 (the Lexus is 2nd car but could become the first! ) Also hade a Toyota Surf which I got rid of to make way for the Lexus. Only had it 24 hours but I am loooooving it - great condition everything works (although think I have blinky dash) and the drive is epic. I gathered from previous newbie threads that pics are appreciated so I cam prepared - a few quick pics of the Lexus below and some of the other Jap metal I have/have had. The Surf I just let go My old Mk1 MX5 And my current 2009 Mx5 Sport Tech with all the bells and whistles on. Look forward to contributing here hopefully althogh I am very much a student of the Lexus with it being my first one. Cheers Bobo
