  1. The V dub is very nice, cool summer car!

    Few answers:

    (1) I would have thought about £3.5K although I paid £5.8K last year for my Nov.2003 IS200 Sport with Aero kit (32k miles) but the Irish channel adds about a grand on to any car!

    (2) The head unit problem is a common fault on IS200s.....luckily mine is ok at the moment, touch wood. OEM Radios come up on eBay time to time but id replace it with a nice Alpine Head unit if it’s broken.

    (3) My mpg is woeful but its worth it for the car...I have what you say 'Heavy foot' syndrome as I love the purr of the straight six at high revs and the car doest really move til at least 4K revs anyway! I get about 20 - 25 mpg on average.

    (4) Think the car looks well and I think the aero kit looks good on the lex.

  2. Dunno to be sure but I think it would be more or a clicking noise if it were the plugs.

I actually went to look at a silver IS in carrick before i got mine that did this. Started her up and heard the noise when i revved the engine, so I walked away from it as i was worried it could be valve damage or something! Id just get her serviced if I were you and take it from there.

Im no mechanic so maybe one of the more experienced members can give their opinion???

  3. Hey chaps, was hoping to get some advice on a problem I have. A month ago or so this started randomly, when I started the car and let it warm up for a few minutes, I gave the accelerator a few light taps and noticed a faint crackling noise, and then went away as quickly as it had started, thought nothing of it until it has happened a few more times since, including today so I took a video before the noise went away again. This might be nothing, or something simple so apologies if im being stupid lol.

Id check your coolant levels first, maybe they are low. Failing that, have you had your timing belt replaced recently, could be an issue with timing.......posssibly.

  4. The Higher grade petrol is better for any car! In my opinion my Is200 ran better when on it, definitely a cleaner burn and what felt like a sharper car but who can afford £1.47 a litre every top up, not me!

Often wondered about Supermarket petrol myself but I don’t think it’s any worse than its equivalent at other petrol stations.

  5. My 00 lexus is 200 se wont turn on the traction control it keeps flashing on the dash and also the handbrake light wont go off.

If its flashing then it could indicate a fault on the system (If its not the bulbs as the other poster suggested), id get it checked by a garage. Not sure about the handbrake light, could be the sensor of perhaps the handbrake shoes are seized or aren’t releasing properly?

  6. This happened to me 2 weeks ago and only recently have the keys started working properly again.

I set the alarm off one morning so I drove straight to the dealer and when I got there it was working again! Drove back to the house and again the car keys wouldn’t lock or unlock the car as you described. They worked everywhere else but my house! It has been on and off like that for about 2 weeks but now its working fine (Touch Wood).

Been looking into this and apparently radio interference can affect the transmitter. Wireless devices among other thing work using the same registered frequency as the keys.

  7. Just wondering if it is ok to put the pink Coolant (Super Long Life) into the system after the water pump etc is changed? I know the car has the red one in at the moment but surely it would be better to use the pink one as it lasts longer?

    Cheers

  8. Alright all, I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the tail light warning indicator coming on in the dash intermittently? Ive checked all the rear lights and they are working so im assuming maybe there is an Electric fault somewhere? Don’t want to bring it to the garage if it’s a simple fix.

    Any comments would be great.

    Cheers

  9. Yeah I tried pulling the lining but it didn’t make much difference. Also I did what Paradroid said and that does seem to work however temporary.

Maybe the Rubber seal is worn down or certain cars sunroofs closing mechanisms are a bit tighter than others, I dunno. Ill just have the music on loud to drown it out!

    Cheers
