  1. My 1992 has done 145000 and im just about to do the rear shocks and strut arm bushes, the shaft in the drivers seat still has'nt been replaced, the cigar lighter has not worked since I changed the radio facia and I originally bought the car to extract the engine and box to transfer to a 4x4 but after all the vehicles I have driven the LS is the most rewarding experience (maybe need to get out more lol) so a little bit of work to keep her going is not too much :winky:

  2. Not that many (active)Scottish members here :(

True but we are trying, thanks to the Scottish roads my 92 LS is about to get a new set of rear shocks and strut arm bushes, so im active in the Lexus just not enough on here :crybaby:

If the only meet is going to be South of the border, just think of the luxurious journey getting there

Welcome Stu to the most amazing forum I have had the pleasure to be part of, I bought my LS400 because I like a big car and after a year I still have no plans to get rid of it which goes against my "different car every few months" record, the information you can get on here is astounding

  3. Hi everyone. Yep car failed mot this year. Two rear brake pipes corroded. £17 odd from lexus each so ordered and being fitted next friday job done.

Not the end of the world

I was considering changing in the new year but my mot guy said id be silly to change as the car really is in excellent condition , just needs stone chips sorting which il now do.

He basically said i could change to a newer model (wanted a 430 ) but with my budget i could still buy a car with more faults than i have now lol. Another problem would have been distance, not many come up in devon so any viewing is a train journey just to view.

Im happy. My series 3 is sorted for another year of smooth luxurius motoring

    Steve.

An excellent yuletide tale complete with happy ending

  4. I'm lucky. I use the BUS!

De-tax the car; wrap it up nice and warm, and bring it out about 4 months later!

Every year, I think about selling it, as I only do about 3K miles per year.

But, what else could I buy this good? :winky:

I agree totally, my LS is covered with a huge snow mound as I didnt get back onshore before the snow came to NE Scotland, but I use the tyres attached to my LR Discovery, which are TOYO Open Country AT's (Great in the snow and slush) and will be putting the LS into a storage shed once the snow clears enough to do the 40 mile journey

  5. I changed my Ls's stereo as the original was not working so I did the same as you are doing in going through ebay, the facia was easy enough to fit and I had previously attained an ISO lead to convert from Lexus wiring to standard aftermarket wiring, my present stereo sounds fine although I have not heard the standard Ls stereo

Hi, the standard LS 400 stereo in my earlier '92 car was just great ........... you could probably get a replacement original complete unit from Benfur on here for not much ££££.

    Malc

Yes very true Malc, and I may do that in the new year after I dig my LS out of the snow mound and do my rear sus bushes

  7. Yep very nice Andy those wheels look "right" for the motor

(PS got my bushes today, thank you very much)

Glad to hear that Niall :)

I see we also have the same taste in cars B)

    Andy

Yes very true, my Disco is in the early stage of being "modified" for offroading as in along with all the lift kit and QT radius arms I have bought a good welder to fix the rear floor although I have a pristine P reg body which I am considering doing a swap

Its an ongoing on the road project

  8. Great found the parts on the diagrams but cant find listing for bush in the

    CARRIER SUB-ASSY, REAR AXLE, LH

**305-500101989.05-1994.10this is what the 'Rod assy, strut rear" part # 48780-50010 connects to, just have to avoid the potholes for a while longer

The rear lower axle carrier bush is not available from Lexus, just the whole unit

I got mine from the USA, poly pushes called ADUS.

If you type bushes, bushings, bush into eBay someone is selling them at about £45.

    Try also 'Polybush'

Phoned Andy at Lexus and got two bushes to cover both sides and then found the superflex bushes to replace the bush on the hub and bought a new heavy duty Battery to see her through winter B)

  9. Can only open boot with key.The button is currently not working.

    What button?

They must have changed the 95 as I have the "button" on my 92

    I feel "so" privilaged

I was trying to understand the "button." My 1995 has a lever for remote unlocking of the boot and a combined lock and button to disable boot access with a valet key. Otherwise no "button."

Actually Steve I stand corrected it is a small "Lever" not a button, I was being imprecise :crybaby: and in future will keep my opinions and descriptions to myself :shutit: I was following on from Piggy describing the "Lever" as a "button" :tomato::lol:
