  1. I thought some of you might be interested in this. I recently bought an ls430 2003 and when I had been driving it for a few days I noticed the drivers side oscillating vent wasn't working. With it being a talking point for the LS I decided to investigate. Getting to the motors and gears was easier than expected starting by just pulling out the lowest section of the centre console and just a few screws at the bottom of each subsequent part. When I got to the vents I swapped the left and right side motors over and this proved the motor was at fault. I had the motor in my hand and phoned lexus. They told me I could only buy the entire vent unit for £240+vat. That seemed a lot as all I needed was the tiny motor. Knowing that Lexus wouldn't help me I decided to take apart the stepper motor. (not for the inexperienced. but what had I got to lose). After prying open the crimped housing it was quite easy to dismantle. When removing the ferrite core from the centre I found that it was broken in half. I simply glued the 2 halves back together and re assembled the motor. To my delight it worked. But for how long? If anyone else has the same problem this may work for you. Also can anyone help with sourcing a replacement stepper motor because I don't expect the super glue to hold forever?
