  1. Good news 4 me lads!! Went to Lexus Belfast yesterday n left a car for a computer diagnose. Got a phone call later that day from service department, ur man say that cat converter and egr valve need to b replaced bla bla bla I was obviously devastated. But he also said that they had contacted Lexus UK and becouse it's a quite common fault in these models they r gonna fix it for me on their expence so Happy Days!!!! Just got the car bk now. He said the put a brand new and modified parts so it will not happen again. So thats me Happy until the next fault occur, hope not :) I just wud like to thank to Lexus Belfast for all the help and for gettin the problem sorted.
  2. Is there any way I can clean that DNPR thing or as the dealer says it can be only replaced?? Any way I'll let us know how it went.
  3. Thx 4 your reply lads. Just booked my car in Lexus Belfast for tuesday mornin (56,40 pounds) so hopefully they will be able to tell me what is goin on. I noticed one thing since the car went bk to normal that is a fuel consumption went up from 38mpg town and 43mpg motorway to 35/34 both town and motarway any idea why??? I dont like it at all!!!
  4. Hi all. Bought my L is220d 3 months ago, had no problems so far until last wed. The day before drove 200miles to get home from my sis's mostly motorway kept it on 5th gear with avr speed 80mph and revs between 2,5 - 3k the journey went fine with no problem however next day got in the car drove obout 5 miles (in town) and the next thing all them lights came up (engine managment, red triangle, VSC light, and CHECK VSC) and obviously car went into a limp mode. Went to the private garage to get it diagnose, got error code P2002 (we all know what it is) Was gonna take the car bk to the dealer (private dealer) and give it to him to fix it as when the problem occured the car was still under 3 months warranty he gave me. In the meantime drove the car over the wkend to work (3miles distance) and bk home and then 2day all of the sudden on my way bk home the car didn't go into a limp mode even though all them lights were on. At the time it seemed strange but whenever i got bk into the car about an hour later surprisingly all the lights were gone and the car was goin ok. So i took it on motorway drove 20miles away and bk home keeping revs up between 3 and 3,5k and so far its all ok. So there is my question now. Does anybody know what the hell hapen??? I was meant to go to ur man tomorow but i dont see the point now. Instead of that was thinkin about goin to Lexus dealer and let them to have a look an use their computers maybe they will be able to give me a right answer. My concern also is, what if it happens again in month or 2 months time? the car will not be under warranty and to be honest I wont be able to pay almost 2k to fix it. I dont really know what to think Im all confused. I was told that the problem is caused by carbon builded up and blocking some kind of filter inside a cat converter. . . Is it posible that it just cleared itself somehow??? Started even thinkin abouy gettin rid of my car but I only bought it 3 monts ago and like a lot so far... Any idaes???? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank u.
  5. Hi Guys. First of all thanks for your replys, much appreciate that. And again Im more confused that I was before asked you for help. Fjcfarrar you simply recomend me to take a warranty from Lexus wchih I was thinking about first but there is a price issue wchih I think is quite understandable but then as you said its Lexus itself so they should care about their customers... Lloyd you r sayin ,,In my honest opinion I do think they are worth it.''and deffo cheaper althou I realise that theri warranty doesnt cover everything but still Im aware and ready that Im gonna have 2 spent some money on this car sooner or later but as long as its not anythin major I dont mind. I was also thinkin about saving money incase something happens but wat if that something happens tomorrow I wouldn't even have that 25quid. Anyway once again thank you for ur opinions. Im off over the wkend so Im just gonna sit down and make a few phone calls and read all their policys especiallly the small print LOL. I'll also call in to my local Lexus dealer and have a wee chat wif him. Well anyway wish me luck again. THX Peter
  6. Hi Thansk for reply. I've been diggin this forum all evening and found a few posts where people are recomending Warranty direct, of course there is a big grup who say its a waste of money but knowing my luck Im not going to take a chance. Was quoted 405 for network garage or 480 for franchised garage. I will deffo buy it but wchih one I will yet think about it.I think ur right I guess I'll give that inspection a miss especially that he seems to be ok and I'll put money towards a warranty. Im still thinkin about taht Service4service company but if nobody knows anything about them I better ring them up to see what the can offer me. Anyway Thank you for a clue and wish me luck wif my IS220 yeo!!! Hope I will not regret :D
  7. Hi everyone! Im Peter and Im about to buy my first IS220d SE. I've red a lot of threads on this forum and have to say that I only got more confused. Well I've already seen and drove a car Im goin to buy and I know Im not changin my decision althou I red so many negative feedbacks about 220d. The end of a day nothing can be worse than my E46 316 Im drivin at the minute, I guess. :) Right but let's get to the point. I've spoken to the dealer (private dealer) about gettin the AA or RAC inspector to give it a good inspection and he said he would even pay for inspection if the car fails it so for me sounds good so far. The dealer is convinced that his car is 100% ok So this is my first question: Is it ok to hire such an inspector, and if I do should I trust him, sure I won't be there during inspection, how Im supposed to know that is not goin to have a cup of tea with the dealer instead of doin what i paid for???? The thing is I know nothin about cars but before I buy it I wanna make sure taht everythin is fine. Another thing, the dealer is givin me a 3 months warranty on this car and I was wondering what should I do after those 3 months??? Red also about Lexus Extended Warranty it cost over 700GB for 12months and it only covers not serviceable items wchih are listed on lexus website. Service itself isn't very cheep either. And ofcourse I couldn't go anyvhere else to do service othervise I would have lost the warranty according to them. So what wud u sugesst me to do go for their Extended Warranty or maybe there is some other option how to avoid a few thousand bill incase if anything goes wrong. I also found a place called Service4Service nationwide car servicing and repairs. Does anyone used their service? Becouse accoording to what it says on web site they can carry out a service without me loosing a warranty and they stamp a service book as well. The car Im goin for has 86k on clock (its 2006) so I still have some time left to my next service but I really dont know what option is best  Thanks in advance for any help and advice. I hope it make sense what i wrote and please forgive me my bad grammar as English is not my first language. Regards Peter
