  1. it would be easier to use the feed from the instrument cluster if its possible, and probably be able to share a ground in the door from one of the components. This would mean having to feed a wire in through the door grommet which would probably be the most difficult/fiddly part. Let us know how you get on
  2. I had a similar problem whereby my car would go into M mode, but 'D' would be displayed and i couldn't change gear and traced it to a faulty part behind the steering wheel. I don't know what its called but its what the wires from the steering wheel connect to in order to prevent the wires from rotating as the steering wheel does. To check; Frstly disconnect the battery and wait several minutes to prevent the airbag from discharging, then remove the two torx screws that hold the airbag on, you will then be able to see the connector that plugs into the device. Remove all the cowling from around the steering wheel (i think there are 3 screws hold this on from memory) and once removed you'll see the reverse side of this part with another electrical connector. Test continuity with a multimeter, and if the current doesn't transfer, then it will need replacing. if your car doesn't even go into 'm' mode, then i would suggest to check the switch in the gear selector. Best of luck, Phil
  3. Hello, Firstly I'd like to introduce myself;- My name is Phil and I own a Toyota Altezza (Jap version of the is200, live near Horsham in West Sussex and this is my first post as a member although I have browsed these forums several times as well as being a member of www.Tezzaworld.com I bought a GROM Ipod adapter for my stock stereo in the Altezza which cost around £100 - It didn't work :-( The japanese stereos have a TV tuner instead of an external CD changer and so it doesn't work correctly. It is, however, supposed to be compatible to work with all versions of the IS and thought I'd let you know that it's an alternative solution to changing the stereo out (they never look quite right with aftermarket ones in my opinion). Anyway, I don't want everyone to think I've come on here ONLY for my own personal gain because this isn't the case. It took me ages to be aware of this and just wanted to alert the users of this owners club too.
