  1. Hi Chaps,

Can any of you help me? I have a 2010 IS250 and twice now the key fob has stopped working to open/lock doors. However the bizarre thing is I could still open the boot by walking up to it, just neither of the two front doors would acknowledge me standing by it despite holding the key right besides the door. I had to open the door manually using the key (and setting the alarm off :geek: ) then start the car by placing the key by the start/stop engine button for it to be detected.

I thought the Battery in the key was dead so visited a watch shop for them to replace the Battery, they tested the Battery and told me it had full charge! So I returned to my car still having to use the manual key at this stage.

I returned home and left it a few hours...returned to the car and all of a sudden its been working fine again ever since.

My car is still under warranty for about another 2 months and I know Lexus won't really do anything unless I can replicate the issue to them (which I can't now). Have any of you experienced this issue or know what the issue can be?

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Cheers,

    Sunny

  2. @ BB1000

Has the crack only started happening since it's been cold? Is it the left corner of the dash?

I have a 2010 IS250 F-Sport and my rattling has started again so its definitely related to cold weather. When I first purchased the car I told Lexus about this, they wanted to hear the problem themselves. I went to the garage took them for a drive and the car was silent! They refused to look into it unless they could hear the rattle themselves.

My car is still under warranty so its a know issue I'd like to get this resolved if possible.

  3. Many people have had tints applied to the rear glass without needing to remove the brake light. Go to a company that know what they're doing, like Tint 'R' in Nottingham.

Thanks - I am aware many people have tinted this car before however the F-Sport's middle rear brake light is different to a normal IS250. Normally the light is on the bottom on the window so it's easy to shape around, but this model its raised with 2 legs so the film needs to go around it. I will try and get a picture tomorrow to help explain. The company I am using are the largest on the South Coast and do all the tints for the local Mercedes and BMW cars amongst many others (www.sctints.com)

  4. Hi,

I wanted to get a light tint on my 2010 IS250 F-Sport however the tinting company said they may have an issue because on this model the rear brake light is standing on the rear parcel shelf and pushing raised onto the rear window. Therefore they may have a problem working around the light.

What I wanted to know is, has anyone had this model tinted if so how did they get around the brake light issue; and how easy is it to remove the brake light?

    Cheers,

    Sunny

  5. The passenger side was the difficult part. The washer tank gets in the way and it's a pain to get a screw driver in there to undo the clip.

But generally once off it's the same process to get back on. Fairly simple bar the one setback.

I tried doing mine the other day but it kept blowing the fuse. It was Micro Red 10 Fuse. When I contacted the LED company about this they said its a common problem and basically I need to replace the fuse with a greater strength one like a 20! Did anyone else have to do this?

    Hi

I think the "LED company" are telling you porkies, LED bulbs use less power so if anything you could reduce the fuse size, are you sure you haven't trapped a wire or something similar ?

    nottonto

Thanks for the reply. You're probably correct, I haven't got a clue when it comes to electrical stuff like Voltage and Amps. It couldn't have been a wire issue because as soon as I replaced the LED bulb with the normal one it lit without blowing the fuse. But thinking about it now could the fuse have blown because I had one normal bulb in one side and one LED on the other? Could that have caused the fuse to blow?

    Cheers,

    Sunny

  7. I have also ordered a pair of 8000k d4s xenon bulbs from u.s.a for my is 220d to give the xenon headlights a blue tinge.

Rav, these are bleedin awesome. I purchased the exact same item, from the exact same seller, 3 months ago. They are extremely bright, and just look ingenious at night.

With the addition of LED's (again, with a blue tinge) as replacement of the uselessly tango'd side lights, it's worked out pretty well. It's also an inspiration to those humouring me about getting "neons" to go with them, but I can tell they are envious with such remarks.

I have also purchased these as well. How easy are they to fit? I lifted my bonnet for the first time (I'm an IT Geek, don't know anything about whats under the hood) and everything seems to be out of touch. Can you pop them protective covers off and easily reach the area to push in the replacement 501 LEDs? I thought maybe once they're off the plastic rivets won't fit back on.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Sunny

  8. When I bought my used IS250 from Lexus Derby I was offered a 3 year alloy insurance policy for about £150, which I took. Initially this seems pricey, but for mint wheels over 3 years struck me as not too bad - especially with my missus's record!! :shutit:

I found a stone chip on one wheel, which was probably there when I bought it and it was starting to bubble a bit, as well as finish showing signs of wear on other wheels, so I took it in. Wear and tear is not covered by the policy, only accidental damage. When I offered to go and kerb the wheels so they could fix it under the policy they agreed to sort it and changed all 4 wheels for newly refurbed ones! Apparently they keep a set in at all times. Whether they have any F-Sport ones I couldn't say, but got to be worth a call. :)

Thanks for the advice Baldchap. When I got my car I initially put almost every after product on, but later whilst thinking about it I phoned them up and cancelled all of them.

I'm not sure if they would have been able to fix this under the cover you have anyway as it would have been the same guys carrying out the work. The problem is I have the F-Sport which came out March 2010, by March 2011 they had slightly changed the model and the alloys. So my alloys weren't around that long. Lexus actually told me that if I couldn't find anyone myself to fix it the only other thing they could suggest was buying an entire new alloy $$$! The also said they don't hold any refurbished versions of this alloy!

Think I'm just going to have to live it it...bugger!

  9. Sorry about the delay on reporting back on this one. So basically I took the car into Lexus, they don't do Alloy repairs themselves, they have local businesses that do it for them. I'm totally gutted because the 3 repair guys they use all said they wouldn't be able to match the F-Sport alloy colour :crybaby:

Looks like I'm gonna be left have to drive around with the alloy like this for now! Major disappointment!

  10. See the posts here:

In summary, you can probably get a repair that will be impossible to detect for around £60 and will take less than a day to complete.

Nice one! A friend of mine works at Lexus so I texted him a picture of it to show to the Body Shop people. He reckoned it was damaged beyond repair. But Lexus have my motor this weekend anyway so they're going to take a proper look at it then - fingers crossed I don't have to buy a new alloy!!

  11. Whilst cruising around yesterday running some errands, I made a stupid school girl error of steering into a curb :tsktsk: !!

The most annoying this is my car is a year old tomorrow and I was chuffed of still having my alloys in mint condition. I suppose if you're gonna curb it you might as well do it properly!

My car is at Lexus next Saturday for its first service, I'm guessing this is something they can repair in their bodyshop? Does anyone know if its fixable or how much something like costs to repair?

    Thanks,

  12. I had a similar problem with my IS250 Sport. I've got the Multimedia pack and the dealer said it was a known problem with this option. The cure is to remove most of the dash and centre console and re-position the wiring. I had this done 3 years ago and the seriously annoying, temperature related creak has gone, never to return. Any little noise on these cars always stand out as they are normally so quiet.

I have this problem with my brand new F-Sport as well. When I contacted Lexus they told me they weren't aware of the issue and told me to show it to them. When I took them out for a drive it didn't do it...dammit! I'm now left with the problem which still occurs occasionally! Thank Lexus!

  13. Great - I had this working fine but now I upgraded to the iPhone4 the bluetooth calling doesn't work any more :tsktsk: When I phoned lexus they said they weren't aware of any issues but told me to book the car in for an engineer to look at it.

Does anyone else out there have an iPhone 4 with the bluetooth working?

I have an 06 220D and my Iphone 4 works fine withe the Bluetooth.

    Hey Ash,

Thanks thats really useful to know. Shame cos my cars only about 6 months old now. Guess it must just be a software glitch? Hope they can get it sorted for me!

  14. I drive the IS250 F-Sport and I popped into the Southampton Lexus today about an issue I have with a rattle from the drivers side. Stupid car didn't replicate the issue when I had a Lexus guy in the car, I left with the problem...soo annoying! Surely this should be an issue they are aware about in an issue log or something similar?

Anyway whilst I was there I noticed the new 60reg F-Sport. It looks very alike except it has front corner spoilers (which I think look kinda boy-racerish), different alloys and the thing I wanted most was Day Light Running lights (DLRs). Does anyone know how much it'll cost to get these fitted onto my 10-Reg F-Sport?

It also had a really ugly '20 Years Celebration' badge on the back, I have no idea why they've made this badge so big and ugly!!

    Cheers,

    Sunny

  15. Hi, I have just bought some daytime LED (will fit inside the headlight unit as in the picture attched) light for my lexus year 2007, Can someone please tell how do I open the headlight unit as its sealed!!!!

    Thanks in advanced

That may be a pic of the new 2011 model that has DRL's as standard. Did you buy them because the trader said they can be retrofitted to the earlier models?

Yes I bought the LEDs because the trader said they can be retrofitted to the earlier models.

Did you buy official Lexus LEDs, to retrofit? If so where did you get these I want them too!

  16. F.A. - Yes mine is the automatic, it's a really smooth drive! Guess the garage will know all about the problem and it'll probably be a quick fix. Sounds like I've made the right choice by not getting DAB and that the UK coverage issue is probably the main reason why all UK cars don't have it by default these days.

Another issue I wanted to ask you guys about with the IS250 is to do with the rear demister. The very top of the rear window doesn't demist but I can see some sort of wiring there, is this the aerial for the radio or is mine faulty?

    Thanks

  17. Hi,

I'm totally new to the forum and Lexus! I finally got rid of my beloved 9 year old Focus which I had from new and treated my self to a brand new Arctic Pearl IS250 F-Sport for the 27th birthday! I got the multimedia pack fitted which is really good but not the DAB module. I was wondering does anyone know if this can be fitted at a later date and if so how much it costs?

Also do any other F-Sport owners know about the rattle from the drivers foot well, I see alot of google results regarding this. My car also suffers from this issue and I have to say once your ear tunes into it you'll hear it for the rest of your journey - so annoying!

    Thanks,

    Sunny
