  1. Who complained about not 100% perfect ? You're missing the point, mate. All i am trying to say is: Lexus IS220D has an awful gearbox and you know that. Engine is not strong as it should be for 177hp because the gearbox doesn't help at all. In my opinion at the wheel you get max 140hp. Body is crazy heavy compare with competition. 1700 kg for a sport sedan ??? Here is the result, high fuel consumption and bad performance. With 18" or 19" wheels even Fiat Panda will smoke you. Audi A8 2008 model weigh 1864kg only. You wanna know why? Because the body is made of aluminum. Even Audi A4 has parts of aluminum on it. Try it with a magnet and you will see.

Yes, totally agree with "TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!" This is not always an option for some people. Maybe i paid 3000 euro for that car and i had no chance before purchase to drive test. When you buy online let's say shoes, how do you try them ??? I can't imagine what Lexus thought when they released the IS 220D on market.

  2. 240km/h isn´t also a problem for a IS220d, i´ve hit 250km/h with wheel dimension 225R17 and 260km/h with a tuning-box. => Well, you right but still won't change the fact. More important is how fast you get there. I don't like to keep a diesel engine on 4500rpm for 15 mins to get there.

But in the Audi you have much more noise from road and engine, but the fuel consumption is realy worse... ca. 0,5-1l/100km more then Audi. => Obviously, Audi is noisier, is the 170hp and S-line suspension. Audi's 2.0 liter engines were always more noisier that 1.9 or 2.5 or whatever. Lexus diesel engine is noisy as well. As for the fuel consumption check hereIS220D

I am not saying is a bad car Lexus but in my opinion apart from interior extras, suspension and sound system is far away behind the Audi and BMW.

  3. Yes, i agree with you, but with the gear box from IS 220D performances are really low no matter how much horse power you have. Thing is at the wheel i don't think you get more than 140 horse power. So, think about a simple head to head race with Audi A4 2.0 TDI 140 horse power, BMW 320d, Mercedes C220 CDI who will win? Lexus has no chance in this competition. The IS 220D was created in order to compete with this guys, engine is great but there is so much power loss with that gear box. Simply, cannot face fast changes and low rpm torque. And besides, is the most heaviest in its field... which is a minus again ... in one word is not helping the driver in certain situations.

  4. I have serviced my car car recently and i can say, there is no more smoke at all, black or white. I do drive it fast always change rev between 3000-4000 rpm. I drive it this way cause i am not happy with engine performance at low rpm. I also used some diesel additive from Wurth right after the service. The thing i am not happy with is car is response on accelerator and fuel consumption. At this level i believe Lexus is on the bottom comparing with BMW or Audi. They are much better engine, suspension, and acceleration response. Not to mention the fuel consumption and gearbox is horrible. Even Fiat is doing better...

With all this said, this car will go for sale in few days after polish outside and professional clean inside. Don't want to deal with Lexus again.

  5. Yes, i totally agree in the UK i can get better price, but i am living in a country where second hand market is much stronger than brand new on tires business. Here these tires brand new are GBP 550 without fitting. Yesterday i was checking the second hand tire shop and for Pirelli P-Zero Rosso or Continental Sport Contact 2 price was GBP 300. DOT was 2007-2008. So, i preferred brand new instead. Not to mention that VAT here is 24%.

  6. Hi all,

All the electrics in my car seems to work fine except the memory seat position, can anyone tell me what the process is for setting it? I assumed I would adjust seat, mirrors etc and then press and hold the first one and it would set it so that when I go in after hubbys been driving I could press that button and it would auto adjust, am I expecting too much from it?!

Set the correct seat and mirror positions, and then with the car on Park, hold down the Set button and press the number 1, 2 or 3 (which ever number you would like) and you should hear a beep to confirm that it has stored to memory

and then set your key fob memory to auto set your set position when you open door !!!

How can i set the key fob memory to auto ?
