  1. Hi Mike, thanks very much, I typed my post in Word and copied it across, and obviously the font was white for some reason..doh!! Thanks very much for highlighting the problem, I've now changed it so that you can read it! Cheers
  2. Hi chaps, would really appreciate any help you can give I'm having a gear selection problem with my manual IS200. What I’m finding is that occasionally when I go to select 1st or 2nd gear, the lever won’t go into position (like pushing against a solid object) but as soon as I release the pressure on the gear lever a little, it slots into position no problem at all. Although still only occasional, the problem happens more often when the car is cold. I had the clutch changed in the summer and it has only started happening since then, but when I took it back to the garage they didn’t really have any clue, but indicated that the gearbox may be on its way out. This seems unlikely to me as the car is only 8 years old (7 with me), on 62k miles and has a full dealer service history. Can anyone please help before I go and spend another small fortune! Many thanks in advance
  3. Hi Ormi Apologies for the late reply, I've been away from my PC, but thanks for your advice. Is the welding option something that any garage can do or does it have to be done by a specialist? Also, is it a temporary / emergency fix or a long-term one? After I posted the original message I had a further search on the web and found an old post where someone mentions importing a solid lightweight flywheel from Japan for £200 (ish), would this be a better / cheaper option (I've no idea how much the welding option would cost), and if so has anyone got any experience of importing & fitting one? Many thanks again, cheers John
  4. Hi all, Got a problem with my IS200 2.0 sportcross and I’d really appreciate you help. My 53' plate manual has done 55,000 miles and has been main dealer serviced, and I’ve just been advised that it won’t be too long before I need a new clutch. This isn’t a huge surprise to me as I do have a habit of riding the clutch, and mostly drive around town. What really shocked me though was when I learned that I would need to have the flywheel replaced at the same time, as the car sometimes ‘judders’ when it pulls away, and apparently this costs £900 (excl VAT) for the part alone, and the car’s current dual mass flywheel can’t be resurfaced...OUCH! A few questions if possible: 1) I’d have thought a flywheel would last way longer than 55k / 7 years, especially when a repair is not possible and the replacement cost is so high! Is this a common problem with this model? 2) If I change the clutch but leave the flywheel, what may / will happen and how long could / will it take to happen!! 3) Has anyone found a lower cost alternative that’s achievable for a non-mechanically minded person like myself Many thanks in advance for your help
