I have an is 200 auto and having replaced the engine I'm having trouble ensuring that I have the right level of ATF. Go figure, it's always the simple bits that cause the most problems!
The handbook says, refill with 2.8l but I have a service manual that advises 2.0l. I'm sure auto data said 2.2l. Either way, I've put in about 2.5l. Even after driving for half an hour or so the dipstick only shows an unconvincing mark around the cold level. OK, you're thinking, well put more in! but on a few occasions the dipstick has read well in excess of the hot level. I don't know if I've got an air lock in there or what but the shifts, particularly when cold, just don't feel right.
Is there a knack to filling? Or getting an accurate dip reading?
Any suggestions? I'm at the point of draining it all out and starting again!
