  1. I have an is 200 auto and having replaced the engine I'm having trouble ensuring that I have the right level of ATF. Go figure, it's always the simple bits that cause the most problems! The handbook says, refill with 2.8l but I have a service manual that advises 2.0l. I'm sure auto data said 2.2l. Either way, I've put in about 2.5l. Even after driving for half an hour or so the dipstick only shows an unconvincing mark around the cold level. OK, you're thinking, well put more in! but on a few occasions the dipstick has read well in excess of the hot level. I don't know if I've got an air lock in there or what but the shifts, particularly when cold, just don't feel right. Is there a knack to filling? Or getting an accurate dip reading? Any suggestions? I'm at the point of draining it all out and starting again!
  2. Hi, I recently destroyed the engine in my is200 auto sport. Thrashed it trying to get up (very slight) hills in the snow and sheared the top pulley off the camshaft and bent just about every valve. I've changed the engine for one from a manual car that had done half the mileage of mine. The engine works fine but the transmission just doesn't seem right. I'm not convinced that I've managed to get enough ATF in and the engine seems to rev a little too high - not sure I'm getting into top gear. Any advice? Cheers, Barry
