Hi, I have the same car. The symbol you describe means the engine stop/start function has been temporarily deactivated due to insufficient battery charge. Once the battery is fully charged the normal stop/start function will resume. I had this after leaving the car for approx. 3 weeks while I was on holiday. After around 200 miles or so the system returned to normal function, presumably it figured out the battery was no sufficiently charged.

    Hope that helps

Hi, thanks for the reply, that's exactly what happened and it's back to normal now. So all great now, the car has only done 34000 I think I need to drive it just a little bit more

Based on your post, i assume you have no manual you can check?

Charging warning description in manual highlights various causes ... which is the likely cause in your case?

Thank you for the reply, the car has only done 34,000 miles and I haven't driven it properly in about a month so it could be a low charge, I did turn of the heat, auto headlights and no music, I also prefer to turn the Stop Start off anyway and when I stopped my journey for today and let the car idle the Battery charge sign didn't come back on. So hopefully I can't complete my journey and get it checked properly in the next service which is due very shortly

    Hi,

I own a 2015 Lexus IS 200T and it's more a weekend car. I haven't driven it much lately. I went on a motorway journey today for approx 2 hours and when the car was standing still a display on the dash would come with a diagonal line through the letter A and underneath it says Battery Charging. Does this mean my Battery is about to go flat or it's indicating its low and is charging. I'm concerned as I have long journey tomorrow and I can't get a replacement battery until next week. If anyone can assist that would be most appreciated? Thank you.

    Good luck with that,

When I have made a claim for Financial Ombudsman about Esure Insurance, they took good 6 months to make a decision on it and although in the end they agreed that T&Cs are confusing and conflicting with other documents in my "documents pack", they concluded it is a matter of contractual law and it is outside of their jurisdiction to enforce. They offered me to sue insurance company privately for recourse.

So please consider if it is worth it. For me it was worth it just purely on principle because in general I don't like how insurance companies operates in UK, but you should decide for yourself if you principals are worth the time it will take to prove anything.

I understand what you mean and the Financial Ombudsman are pretty much useless from what I keep hearing. Im going to think about what kind of 'case' I can put together then decide. But yes, there must be a more stringent better body to regulate and govern these insurance companies, its like they have us 'hand over fist' at all times. If they say the insurance prices have gone up this year, they keep singing that same song each year and we have to sit and accept it, how do we counter that? How do we know they have? That's just one example of the plots they use.

That sounds like a result - well done for persevering. As I also run my own business I always resent the time it takes every year to sort out the car insurances, which in reality should be a simple task. I now keep all my details in a comparison site (in my case I use confused.com but I'm sure the others are similar) and update the details with any changes through the year. Then when the renewal comes around it's relatively quick to get new quotes by running the comparison site with the current data - always do this around 3 weeks before the renewal date as that is when they will give the cheapest quotes. I then compare with the current insurer renewals and either change (the comparison sites transfer the data to the new chosen provider so that's easy) or may call the current provider if I think it's worth it - tbh if the renewal quote is way more than I am getting from the comparison site I often can't even be bothered calling the current insurer as they are just taking the ****. It's something of a PIA but the most straightforward process I have found!

I've used that method aswell during the last 3 or 4 years. I agree about 3 weeks out is good timing. As today showed its still abit of a lottery and luck. I had generated a quote on the comparison site and the cheapest was £526. I wanted to double check something on the quote so I went back on my browser, what this did was refresh the entire search and then to my pleasent surprise I got £475, this significant change within 30 seconds.

  7. Here is an update. I'm getting a full refund from Hastings Direct You Drive, minus the days I've been insured and a £20 set up fee. (Apparently they have waived the £20 cost of the device) this was supposed to be all clear in the ts&cs?! I have got a quote for £475 without blackbox from General Accident. Inc the £20 set up fee that Hastings are keeping, it works out £3 cheaper than last year.

I still believe Hastings have misold the policy so I'm considering seeking reimbursement for the time it's cost me to deal with this out of running my own business.

Your age/ status is pretty much the same as mine, and I took out new insurance a couple of weeks ago. For an IS300h on 15K a year, second named driver and business use I paid £260.  The 200t looks to only be 3 or 4 groups higher so something sounds wrong. Is your postcode high risk?

My postcode is OK, I've been a Lexus owner for nearly 20 years I'm on my 3rd model and this years insurance is alot higher, like you eluded, its just not right, makes no sense.

If you have IS200t as per your profile, then don't be surprised - it has ridiculous insurance category. I was surprised myself when I got RC200t and my insurance company literally refused to transfer my cover. I was expecting insurance would go a little bit for the remaining 3 months, no they literally said "we can't insure you". So I had to freeze my existing insurance on IS250 and get separate insurance on RC200t which was £1400. £580 does not sound that bad, but you 10 years older than me, so perhaps it does makes sense. Although, insurance prices should be down at the moment and I recently was quoted £562 (which is amazingly cheap for me).

If it is telematics like Bell (just plugs in into 12V and you return it after 3 months) then I would go for it as it does not require any holes in the car and no messing around with wiring. They actually, asked me to return it after like 6 weeks when I had one and refunded me £80 because apparently I was good driver. But I would no go for any trackers which are hardwired under the car and which you have to keep for whole years.

I've received the device yesterday, its a small triangle shape and apparently I need to download there app and pair it with the device. What company did you get the cheap price you mentioned?

  10. 11 hours ago, wharfhouse said:

I tend to think the whole telematics thing for more experienced drivers is just another marketing ploy at the moment for insurance companies to try and lock people in - again I can only talk about my daughter's experience but she had the telematics box fitted and had a good driving record looking at the telematics dashboard and yet when she came to renew the renewal quote from her current insurance company (who fitted the box) was more expensive than changing to a new company that didn't require a telematics box! So no reward there for good driving even with the proof from the box. Hope you find a policy soon that better meets your needs.

I agree with you and what you mentioned upon renewal that the price increased just goes to show how we are in there hands, how could they justify the price increase... Ridiculous. Surely there has to be a governing body that can clamp down on these tactics. Furthermore I'm baffled how a young dri er with little to no experience is getting a cheaper price than one who is vastly experienced, also they mentioned using the device as part of the policy, I'm going to ask the question where in there ts & Cs does it say I must own a smartphone? As that's the only way to use the device. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to post.

  11. Thanks for replying. I'm in my mid 40s, clean license with 13 years ncb. I've been quoted £445 fully Comp but without the device it's £583.ive been paying around the £450 price for the last 2 years but this has taken me aback somewhat, especially the device and how the insurance company is trying to make things difficult now

  12. Hi, can anyone please recommend some car insurance companies that tend to have the cheapest prices? I've searched on the comparison websites and most of them say you have to use a telematics monitoring device in order to obtain the best price. Any help would be great thank you.

  13. I came across the launch of the new Lexus IS500 F Sport (5L V8) It looks amazing and so pleased they have made it. I rang my local dealership only to be told it will not be released in UK or Europe. So dissapointed with this news and its the worst move Lexus could make imo. Is there anyway we could all get together and write or get this decision reversed? I would buy one for sure.
