  1. Still trying to replace my wing mirror but presently taking two steps backwards for each one forwards. I got a 2000 model mirror but the design and wiring is different to my 2003 model. My original mirror has 2 extra wires leading into the connector block and from other postings here I am begining to think that these are the on/off leads which were not fitted to earlier models. Is anyone able to confirm this and does anyone know which year the colour coordinated cover fastening was changed from screw on to clip on. The 2000 model is held on with 3 screws behind the mirror while mine is a clip on job with 3 plastic sprung clips which latch on to the plastic plate behind the mirror. Neither one will replace the other. I am now being offered a 2002 replacement unit but I cannot establish if it is identical to my original. Any ideas?

Many thanks for the tips Steve, I sorted out the removal of the mirror but I had to struggle for space because, for the life of me, I could not remove that door panel. I am sure that I removed all of the fasteners and the panel was moving around the interior door pull but it was impossible to lift the panel to clear the groove at the bottom of the window. It was as if there was another hidden fixing very close to the door pull, also I tried to prise off the plastic door pull surround but it was not having it and I gave up for fear of breaking it. Everything is back together again now but I still have to wait for another mirror with the correct wiring loom and a cowl with the right attachment clips
  3. Sounds as though your little friend is getting off light. I have just been in contact with Plymouth Lexus and the replacement unit for mine was £465.00. I now have a quote for the colour coded cowl: £48.00 and the mirror itself: £98.00. It may be of interest to other members to know that I have just tried to save a few bob by getting a replacement unit from a breakers yard, paid £40.00 for what looked like an identical unit. All was going well until I withdrew the the connector tail from the door, not only a different connector but a different number of wires. After an awful lot of cursing and swearing, I decided to dismantle the replacement that I had bought and only replace the mirror and the cowl.......... Wrong! It took a complete day to figure out how to remove the mirror, only to find that it had a different connector on the back of it, and then it turned out that the cowl for the replacement unit was fixed on with 3 screw fasteners, whereas the original was secured with 3 spring clips. Totally not interchangeable! Anyone thinking of going down the "cheap option" line needs to be very careful, especially when buying replacement parts on line. Hope this helps someone out there. Hi all, I have joined the forum because I love my IS200SE, (far from new,2003,but loved) and I am sure that there will be plenty of help available out there to assist me to keep her as beautiful as I think that she already is. Very frustrated at the moment because someone, who had no idea how wide their vehicle was, wiped out my wing mirror. What was thought to be a relatively simple repair is slowly turning into a nightmare. The colour matched cowl was smashed and the mirror itself shattered, other than that everything functions normally. I was fortunate enough to locate a 2000 model unit from a local breakers but when I come to install it I find that the connector block doesn't match, nor do the number of wires. My next thought was to take the mirror and the cowl from the replacement unit and install them onto the original body, hook up, job done? NO. I have spent all day trying to remove the cowl without damaging it and despite checking with the forum Knowledge base, I can find no way of removing either the old mirror, or the new one. One other problem is that I cannot fully remove the door panel. I have removed all of the fasteners including the one behind the door catch, but the panel stubbornly refuses to part company with the door. Can anyone tell me how to do it.
