  1. Thanks guys. That's a big help! :) I'll get those coilovers then, and then later on invest in some camber arms and bushes for the track! I will be replacing the brakes eventually, but as I'm not going on track for a while and they're fairly pricey I'll wait a bit. :P
  2. Hi all, don't know if this has been asked before, but been having a look recently and getting a bit confused. i have a lexus is200 and im turning her into a track car... (slowly). so far i've been reducing the weight in my car and it now sits really high so I was going to invest in some coilovers but a wise man told me to check if I need to replace anything else such as the camber arms as the camber might be way out if I lower it. he did on his 3000gt and his camber was way out so invested in some adjustable camber arms. i want her lower anyway as she will be a track car eventually... so i might as well lower her a LOT to get rid of the silly ride height AND get her lower than a standard is200...to increase handling. i do drive her on the road, and she's not quite a track car so won't be letting her on track just yet, so ideally I don't want too much camber... otherwise it wouldn't be a problem! now, ive got my heart set on some race/street coilovers for now and i don't really want to replace any camber arms (just yet), but the height it bugging me after getting a new exhaust system, she just looks a bit silly... plus, I've heard that people can get different size springs for the coilover kits, but you can also adjust the ride height with the coilovers too... so really my questions are... 1. if I replace the coilovers will I need to replace the camber arms too? or can i just take it to a garage and get the camber adjusted? OR.. can I get away with it for a while until i save up for the camber arms? and 2. would i need different sized springs if my cars been stripped? as apposed to a standard is200 being lowered with all the interior? lets say that I don't want to commit to buying these coilovers just yet if I have to buy other bits as I can't afford them as well... well not until say a month or so later... sorry if this post has been done already! :)
  3. Hi! thanks! I will have a look this weekend! I very much doubt it'll be that though. Think I might just get a new system and book it into a local garage!
  4. Hi guys! I'm pretty new to this site and pretty new to is200's... Anyways, I've come across an issue with my key fobs/central locking.. the other day while stripping out all the interior (I know, cringe! but she's going to be a track car!) I removed the sun visors and interior lights and noticed that my remote key fob stopped working! I've checked over christmas on a few posts/forums and a fair few other people have had the same issue. But most of them have started working again randomly! Well, it's been a week now and it's still not working! I've read up that the central locking is connected up to the interior lights (it shares the same fuse) and when I removed the interior lights, this might have triggered a fuse to blow, and after looking at the dome fuse in the passenger footwell, it looks alright to me! Also, the actual central locking works fine, as I am using the central locking button inside to lock all four doors at the moment. I also heard that it might be interferance, but I've moved the car across england since and it still doesn't work! I've also, of course, heard about the key fob battery, but after returning home after christmas, I checked this with my spare key and still nothing wants to work! Although the little red lights do light up in both, so that's a clear indicator that the batteries are fine!! I have recently moved the responder from the rear window so it's out of view from public, but the problem occured way before I even moved this! Does anyone know what else I could try? I might just replace the fuse and batteries anyway as I'm at the point of just buying an aftermarket alarm system.. although I'm going to get one anyway (viper) because she's going to be a track car and I don't want her to get nicked! Are there any other fuses I could check? As the central locking is working, it's just the fob! Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello everyone! I've just bought an IS200 and it's going to be my project car... hopefully she'll eventually be a drift/track car! - depends how good I am at drifting! Only I'm not exactly a mechanic and I thought I'd sign up to Lexus Owners Club for future help! :) My project is going to be to convert the IS200's factory engine with a UZ engine (hopefully the 3uz as it's a lot lighter!) and strip her out completely (custom everything if I can! even thought about going mad and getting carbon ceramic brake discs!!) Anywho, just thought I'd introduce myself you all. :) Any tips / comments / suggestions on my project feel free to say something! :D And yes... I am mad! :)
