  1. Over the past few weeks ive been reading on this forum about Wheel Geometry setup on IS models. Ive Just had 2 front tyres fitted to my IS and the fitter pointed out that the rears where wearing on the inside edges. He ajusted the tracking on the front of the car but I noticed that the steering wheel was not straight with the car (5 degrees out).

I spoke to a ex tyre fitter friend who told me that just tracking the front is no good on a IS. He informed me that when tracking is just set on the front it may not be correct because it is setup with the back wheels hence if the back wheels are out you are fighting a loosing battle.

Any way he recommended I visit GOODWIN tyres in Ilford/Essex as he sold his 15k's worth of equipment to them. Went there yesturday and they informed me that the rear o/s camber was out and the front tracking was still out.

They set it all up for me for less that £60 and now it runs sweet with minimal tramlining. I will post the printout of the result in the next couple of days.

  2. rubbish.  :D

sat nav makes you a safer driver.

Before you had sat nav - you had written directions, A-Z what have you.

so you have stressed drivers, who have no idea where they are, looking for landmarks, trying to read road names, stopping suddenly when they see the road they once - all instead of paying attention to their driving and potential road hazards.

contrast with sat nav - you know where you are going. you can miss as many turns as you like, and the nice lady will simply re-route you without so much as a harsh word.

you are given plenty of warning when you should be turning, so can get in the right lane in advance.

And most important - you are nowhere near as stressed.  You know the sat nav will get you there - so you just roll with it.

I won't own a car again without sat nav

I should go for it then - worth the dosh :huh:

Another reason you may consider is that you can also add the safty camera database to your TomTom software to alert you of blackspot areas.

  3. After using Kazaa Lite for a long time I eventually suffered from a lot of spyware from it.

I now use Ares, which I read about in another forum, and it's quick and easy to use and so far I haven't had any problems with it:

#I also used to use Kazaalite but more and more of the MP3's are corrupt.

I now use WinMX which seems to be ok for MP3's

  4. Colin's right. Buy the TomTom Go or as I have, an iPAQ and TomTom Bluetooth unit. Either are really great.

Is there a nice tidy unit like this that you can buy but that doesn't plug into the cigarette lighter, don't think i could cope with the wires trailing everywhere!

    Rob,

your the same as me with regard to untidy wires. But I do own a TomTom Go and it comes with a mains charger and cigarette lighter charger, however the internal Battery lasts for 8 hours fully charged, so I rarely use the in-car charger.

  6. AAAAHHHH I SEE ! I POPPED IT IN THE "IS FORUMS" AS IT TENDS TO GET MORE HITS , SO MORE CHANCE OF GAUGEING PEOPLES OPINIONS .

I have TTG mounted in my IS at the moment. If you wondered how it looked mounted, I can post some pics for you.

  7. I'm also thinking of buying one. Had a look at one, seems to work better than the PDA version, only thing is the software sometimes lags behind. Still the option to add your own POI is now there so you can add the speed camera data ;)

    Colin,

I have used TomTom navigator with an IPaq and I kept having to to do soft resets ect with it, plus the speaker wasnt load enough. Since changing to TTG ive noticed much better performance regarding display, sound and Battery life. Also I havent noticed any software lag and TomTom are always releasing free software updates to cure any of thease problems.

If you require any more info regarding TTG, try this forum http://www.expansys.com/forum.asp?man=TOMTO&code=TOMTOMGO

    Hope this helps

  8. I had my windscreen replaced by Autoglass on my IS200 when it was 2 months old. About 4 days After repair I noticed water dripping from where the A post meets the roof lining. Autoglass told me that there was a small Air bubble/hole in the sealant which was allowing water to seep through.

Autoglass had to spend the day with my car under the dryer to cure the dampness.

IMO I would take the car to centre rather that have a mobile unit fit it.

Also I noticed on the invoice that the price for the screen fitted was £650 :(
