thought id update as ive managed to get the plenum cleaned up and painted,some more general cleaning up of the engine bay. just some more blue silicone hosing to fit but its almost finished then i can start on the bodywork:)

i took some picks of how to re-connect the vsv valves,egr and other bits on the right side of my plenum before i removed them all to replace but it seems my camera didnt save them.. anyone got a good close up pik of that side of the engine bay so i can see how all the vac pipes connect to everything please?? its a 1993 ls400

thought id drop in and say hi. dont normally use other forums apart from our own local forum "purejdm.co.uk" but as these cars are quite rear around here and there isnt much info around i thought it best to sign up just in case i needed some advice:) so here,s a bit of what ive done and some pickys so far of my project:) i recently aquired an ls400 very cheaply with a few issues like no mot.lol got it home and next day it passed its mot with only a couple of advisaries (osf head light out of adjustment & a slightly corroded rear brake pipe so not a bad bargain at all.. been tidying it up for the last month and correcting a few issues it had and making some modifications of my own inc : removed plastic stock grill insert and replaced with black mesh repair and modifcation of the front bumper new discs and pads and painted calipers removal of horrid red paint in the engine bay inc cam cover removal,stripped of red paint and repsrayed in gold, throttle body cleaned and painted, cleaned the afm and painted, full engine service cleanup of all plastics and painted in white. made and induction kit with the help of some silicone hose,hks filter and some 3" alloy piping i had in the garage general clean up of the engine bay itself. just about to remove the plenum and finish stripping the last of the horrid red hand paint and then clean inside and out then paint in gold and fit the rest of the blue silicone hose:) refurb and repaint of the 19 deep dish alloys

thought id post some picks up of the wheels that are on my ls4.. there wolfrace and are all 9.5 wide with an et 35 and 19" with a 4" lip all round they were a real mess with the paintwork and curbage damage.. spent 6 days sanding and repairing the damaged lips with chemical metal then primered and painted in satin black until i can decide what colour i want them to be. fitted new discs and fitted new discs and pads whilst i had the wheels of:)

looks like we sorted the strange misfire..was down to the air filter it had on it.. replaced it with a new hks one and fitted it properly and bingo no more missfire:)

Hi. Thnks for the reply. Going to service it at the end of the month as ive seen a few things that need replacing. Car flew through its mot yesterday but only scraped through on the emissions so something to look into there. Will look at the tps today. No fualt codes found either so im guessing it mite just be down to needing a service as it has been stood up a while. Was still a bargain so worth spending some cash onit :)

Hi all. Just started to learn my way round my ls4 and mines gota dodgy infuction filter n really wanting to find the stosk airbox and plastic attachments but cant find a good pik of a 93 engine bay with the stock airbox so i know what i need to go looking for Isit worth just getting a new filter , any issued with filters or is the stick sirbox with panel filter a better option. ??. Any piks and advice will help??

hi all..just aquired a cheap ls400 as a runabout for a while but its got a missfire around 1.6k to 2.4k rpms car runs faultlesly other than the missifre. just cruising at 55 to 65 the car jerks a little back & fourth..fine when accelerating or holding any other speeds.. just drove it for 4 and a half hours solid and apart from this issue its sweet as do these suffer from any missfire issues around this rev range or could it be just down to a dodgy plug??
