Our does 30mpg plus at those speeds but it’s currently averaging 17.5mpg on the daily school run and back to work. Well worth it IMO as there will be plenty of time to run on electric in the future.

thats good to know.  Its just about knowing where its ok and the rest doesn't really matter.

This is pretty much the only reason I have to get rid of my RCF. It’s looking likely I’ll be working from home for at least the next year or so and even when I go back to the office it will only be 1 or 2 days a week. So it’s me doing the school run. And with four kids, that means I’ve had to borrow an old golf off my dad and my car just sits fallow on the driveway. If only I could convert the cup holders in the back...

yep, having 3 kids does limit things!

  3. Looking for space to seat 5.

I was looking at a gs450h, however I thought a gsf might fit the bill, possibly a bit more in fuel, however it might hold its money a bit better etc.

Stupid question, I do 12k a year, sitting at 70-80 on the motorway, will a gsf do 30mpg?  Not bothered about fuel use at other times!

Anyone got one for sale or know of one?

  4. A couple of points, I'm loving my is220d just a few strange bits.

I get 550-570 miles from a tank at the minute, however when I fill up the range only ever goes to 530, its nothing I loose sleep over I just wonder why it never shows what I will actually get. My trip computer constantly under reads by around 1.3mpg. The cars averaging 44.5mpg to a tank with a mix of motorway and town driving, just motorway sees about 46-48mpg to a tank. I still can't work 6th out, my car seems to pull it smoothly at 70mph however it doesn't use more or less fuel than using 5th at that speed so tend to just use 5th.

Also pondering in 18months when I'll get a newer one, are the 2009models really 5mpg better on average? I'll want the car to have cooled seats(I know these were dropped for the newest ones) and not to have DRL's, I think that'll mean a 2010 car will be the newest to have those two things??

  5. OK, I spoke to Lexus and mentioned the design fault and the warranty and they said because my car was not serviced by Lexus the the warranty is null and void. Can they do that? I am now calling the seller and explain the problem. My biggest worry is that if the head is warped then the warranty will not pay anything.

Its a good will gesture you see, so they don't have too.

  6. Things to remember, lots of people come on forums just to post about problems, think of the large number of cars that never have any issues. Most of the issues could be the fact that they're not getting the oil burning lump hot on short trips.

They have issues but are easy to spot, if its got a full history lexus will warranty the engine till 140k or 7 years, so you could say they're a better buy as you've got a level of factory cover.

MPG wise, I seem to average about 45mpg on the motorway and 39ish around town. Last tank did 550 miles, that was all motorway and about 2.5hours central london, 44mpg. They've not got a big tank(should be 80ltrs really).

6th is fine at 70 unless you've got big hills etc, I tend to do 75 in 5th where there's no vibration/noise. A lot more midrange stomp than a is250 but not as smooth at lower speeds.

For what its worth I had a is250 on test and got 31mpg over a 200mile journey(which I thought was good for a 2.5 auto), the 220d did 42mpg on the same journey the following day.

If you're doing the miles the 220d is the best bet, if you're not the cheaper is250 would be the better bet.

  7. Well its got some fans on here so I thought i'd give it a go. Can ordered and waiting for me to fill the car up on Sunday.

Currently averaging 41.5mpg since i've had the car(6 weeks/1500+ miles). New job starts Monday and was the reason I got the car. On long trips I seem to get about 44.5mpg, this is driving normal with a slightly lead foot.

EGR cleaned the day I got the car.

What should I be looking for with the bg244? Better MPG? Quieter engine?

For what it's worth, I know they're are some 220d haters on here but I like mine, its got a few quirks and the gearing is strange but its good on fuel, goes well, drives nice and isn't a BMW/Audi. its going to be earning its keep now doing about 600miles a week, i'll post my findings on here about the bg244 and any issues I have as I put heavy miles on her.
