  1. Hi

Just bought a lexus stereo with the cd loader at the top and not sure its the right one, thought all top loaders had same connections but apparently not, any way Im going to try and fit it anyway, can anyone identify the white connector in the middle of the pic, and perhaps tell me what else I need to do to go back to standard!

    Thanks Jason

  2. Hi

Wanting to put original stereo back as my is200 was fitted with touch screen interface stereo when I bought it, also would like my sat nav working again!

So my question is, is there a difference between the original tape on top is200 and the later tape on bottom stereo?

And will they both work in my 2004 is200?

    Thanks Jason

Ps if anyone has a fully working original stereo pm me id be interested if the price is right!

  3. Hi

Just done my first fuel economy test, all local, aircon on most of time, heated seats on, lights, wipers etc on.

No peak time heavy traffic driving, snow mode on 95% of time, hypermiling techniques were also used.

    Tesco 99ron.

    The result

    25.7 mpg , I can get 22 in my RX300 !

    Maybe needs a full service!

  4. Thanks

As far as my basic googling goes, lexus all seem to leave the factory with Toyota belts made by mitsuboshi, but stamped as Toyota.

I have no stickers in the engine bay saying the belts has been changed, so Im just hoping someone can tell me if SKF belts were a factory fit! Oh and the Lexus printout says just water pump was changed!

    Thanks Jason

  5. Hi

Just bought a 54 reg IS200, chosen because of the experience of owning my RX300. Its done 67k, but the guy I bought it off has misplaced the service book, called lexus who told me that it was last serviced at lexus in 2009 which was the 50k service@28k when they fitted a new water pump.

Now I have little doubt that the chap I bought it off got it serviced in the time he had it, he also told me it had the cambelt changed in 2010 at 35k but couldnt prove it as no service record!

So took the cambelt cover off and the belt is made by SKF, is this an original make or definately a replacement?

Also does anyone still do the lead? to make the sat nav work with the aftermarket stereo?

Thanks and sorry for the extra long post

  6. Hi

different car I know, but when I changed from the factory fitted Bridgestones on my RX8 to Avon ZZ5 I noticed a huge difference in ride quality and quietness, just as the guy at the tyre place said I would, if you search the net lots of people have been much happier with their cars once away from Bridgestone Potenzas, which have bad wet grip and extremely little flex in the sidewall ( your primary suspension) which makes them very good around corners in the dry, but not a great all rounder.

Just dont buy cheap tyres, rarely much good, and when people see cheap tyres on a premium car, all they think is you cant afford the running costs, AND when it comes to buying a used car, never buy one with naff tyres on, if they are unwilling to spend reasonable tyres, they certainly wont have spent on reasonable general maintenance costs!

  7. I .... have got from 450-500 miles on a pure motorway run (not using the trip computer)

    450-500 from a petrol 3L V6? What speed do you drive at - 45MPH?

Sorry, but I don't believe you can get that @ even 60MPH. The most I would suggest you get is around 320 miles on a long run from your tankful.

    Hi

just to clarify, I get around 400 miles to a tank on a run in my 2001 RX300, averaging a calculated 28 miles per gallon.

The best I have managed was from Santander to Camping La Marina on the Costa Blanca coast, in 33 degree heat with air con on at 65mph, with a boot full of camping gear and a full size air con unit ( cant beat a nice cool tent ) which we managed a record breaking ( for me ) 32mpg, lovely smooth flat roads, no stopping and starting, and constant use of cruise control ( tyres 35 psi ),

this taken from fuel receipts, sat nav and odometer!

Also for anyone else with a mark 1, the speedo over reads quite a bit, but the average speed setting on the computer is dead on!

Also very cold weather wrecks hypermiling!

    Cheers Jason

  8. Hi

last year driving through France and Spain I cannot remember seeing any Lexi, 7 out of 10 new cars seem to be Dacia, and in Spain the tow car of choice seemed to be Ssangyong, also noticed not too many Jaguars either, Mercedes seem to be the premium badge of choice in Spain, with the communist French buying 95% French cars, regardless of reliability!

Probably why France still has a motor industry and we havent!

    Cheers Jason
