  1. I see I'm afraid like many companies, banks etc Lexus are misinterpriting the 1998 DPA. There is no problem or breach of the DPA supplying the information PROVIDED they don't release the previous owners personal details.

& if they claim they can't provide info they are wrong. Next time tell them you will submit a SAR (subject access request) which they must respond too by law

Anyway thanks my question has been answered in that they DO maintain a central register recording a vehicles history

You own the car you also own the maintainance data

  2. Hi I understand this club has ne meets. I must say & whilst Lexus Owners a rarer than say Ford or Vauxhall Owners, being owners of such a car does make us a bit more informed than your averae car owner.

Am I alone in thinking meets are good idea & that meeting in public will show then that Lexus Ownership is within their grasp when they see a load of petrol heads.

Also does Lexus UK not orginize any kind of owners get together & I don't just mean when they have something to sell if not I'm very surprised clubs are big with other manufacturers & often organised by owners but backed by the manufacturers

  3. Hi I live in West Dorset & also disabled. Provided your insurance covers you or you can sort out insurance for yourself I can lend you a GS300 until yours is fixed & provided its for no more than a week I don't expect any payment

To add I'm not being entirely ultruistic At the moment its not being used & is just standing around so your using it would be a help as the Lexus is a car that needs to be used

  4. A lone police officer can caution you for speeding. They don't need a speed gun. The gun is merely a tool they use to confirm their suspicions. An officer on foot patrol can accuse you of speeding AND no they don't need to stop you. Provided you receive a NIP (Notice of Intending Prosecution) within 14 days & then issue a summons within 6 months you're good to go. If they stop & caution you there is no longer a need for the NIP it goes straight to summons.

The above assumes your DVLA details are correct & if not they get longer & you're in trouble (fine £1000) for not updating the details

  5. I watch Top Gear for entertainment & nothing else. As has been stated its not a serious infomative programme & hasn't been for years. Remember the Yanks even refused them a visa stating they are an entertainment show so they went on holiday visas & winged it whilst taliking in glowing terms about the American Cars. This was clearly intended to influence the Yanks when or if they returned Stateside

  6. That's good service Mike, I wish I had been able to use them instead of being forced by my local council to use one from uklpg website.

My install has not been a good experience back and forth trying to stop the smell of gas and to get it to actually run right ( runs perfectly on petrol )

If any anyone knows of a good installer nearish to Warrington that's honest please feel free to let me know.

I'm wondering what I can do about all the money I have paid if I have to pay someone else to fix it!!

Why is your council insisting you use uklpg? Its just a site set up by a couple of insurers & who charge a fee of about £800 for the fitters to join. Although it claims to be It holds no special signifigance in the use or fitting of LPG, its just a private club.

If I were you I'd tell them to GGS & insist you use the most cost effective fitter who may or may not be a member

  7. What happens if you lose the transponder key?? I've been told you have to replace or re-programm the ECU!!!!! at VERY considerable cost :doggy:

Don't know about the RX but on the MK1 IS If you lose your transponder key or "masterkey" then it's new locks, new ignition barrel, new ECU and new keys. This must be common as Lexus do it for a fixed price of £2000! :(

    Krikey :shruriken:

  8. Hi all

    I only joined very post-45253-0-77443000-1355433942.jpgrecently.

I 1st drove the 300 as company car when it was introduced & loved it from day one. Although it did have one disquieting habit, in reverse you had to give it some gas to get it to move & it would without warning shoot back. AND before you ask holding the footbrake didn't work either cos if you did it wouldn't move even on gas.

I am now medically retired & have started a hobby of buying & restoring Lexus GS300 & LS400 Problem is I want to keep them instead of passing them on but the Missus won't have any of it.

Finding this site has got me thinking as I was going to purchse a secondhand 430 but after reading some posts on the subject & being advised I should I'm thinking of changing my plans
