  1. Panic over!

I figured it out. Theres 3 visible screws, 2 on the door side of the dash underneath the removable flap, 1 under the jamb of the glovebox door and finally the last screw is hidden under the leather strip covering the side of the centre console which can be accessed by removing the top panel where the gearshifter is situated and removing the 1 screw holding the leather strip in place.

    Handy enough.

  2. I posted up here recently about a BCM problem with my GS300. I've found the same car (different year) in a dismantlers with its BCM intact and the part numbers differ only slightly (last digit is 1 on mine and 2 on breakers.)

So I'm wondering, is it compatible with my car? Is the last digit an indicator of a production line date or is it a little more specific. Would it have any adverse effect on my car if I were to install it?

    Thoughts please..

  3. Hi all,

Anyone know how to remove the glovebox on the Mk3?

I had an attempt at removing it today, I removed the 3 screws on the top and left hand side and removed the 2 x 10mm bolts on the underneath but there seems to be something on the CD player side stopping the glovebox from coming away from the frame completely.

Do I have to remove the trim around the centre console and the radio to get access to this area?

Any info would be much appreciated.

  4. I had a damaged valve on my GS which caused the tyre pressure warning light to come on. I just replaced the damaged TPMS valve with a normal valve. The warning light stays on but at least the tyre pressure is ok, that light is a real nuisance, must get it repaired.

I know a guy who had a dead Battery in one of his tyre sensors. He opened the sensor and cut the Battery out of the surrounding silicone with a razor blade and just replaced it with an identical (5 euro) Battery, superglued the casing back and voila! it worked again. Saved himself a few quid in replacing and reprogramming the sensor.

  5. Anyone on here had any problems with their wipers? 2 weeks ago my wipers started acting up. They would work if I messed around with the switch so I brought the car to a local auto sparks.

He had a look at the car and hooked it up to a scanner but got no fault codes from the car, so he reckoned it was a faulty switch. So I ordered a new switch (115 euro) and fitted it to no avail, So he recommended I bring it to lexus and get them to run a diagnostic test on the car.

I brought the car to my local lexus dealer and they performed a diagnostic test and the results of the test are pointing towards an issue with the body computer. The technician reckons I need a new bcm at a cost of 900 euro for the part.

What I'm wondering is, Is this a common issue with the GS300 MKIII.? And is it possible to fix a component of the bcm without replacing the whole unit.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Hello Everyone,

I recently acquired a 2005 GS 300 and I can honestly say, despite the cars liking for petrol its the best car I've ever owned (what was I thinking buying all those heaps over the years?)

I look forward to learning a bit more about these machines from fellow Lexus heads in the future. I already have some queries regarding my GS, I'm just trying to get my bearings on the forum first.
