  1. Hi all.....just before I start I'd like to thank all members for recent advice for buying an IS200. Went to Preston today to px my 53 plate Vectra diesel for this 51 plate auto!! 123k. History up to 100k with handbooks etc Love it....love the drive....love the stereo....love the sound.....just needs the interior cleaning really! It was that quiet on tickover, I was stood next to it and didn't even realise it was running! Only fault I can find is that it tram lines a lot on the inside lane of the motorway in the lorry tracks! Still undecided about the black alloys.....but at least there tidy for now. Hope to meet a few of you at the next meet if I'm welcome!! Adam
  2. Thanks very much guys....I dig this site because the Lexus lads are quick and very helpful!! That's why I'm chomping at the bit to get one and join the club!! Have found out the cambelt was done by a previous owners dad who was a mechanic so it's a risk!! Just want my Lexus experience to be a good one after selling my Vectra C Sri 2.2 DTi which has been a good un ! All advice has been taken on board ! ;-)
  3. Hiya gang....the IS200 I've been looking to buy this week, I've a few things I'd like some advice to. It's a 2001 on a Y plate with a 130k miles and some service history. Has had cambelt done between 110 and 125k although present owner has only had the car for 5 months and has no receipt for this. Has 2 keys. Done a HPi check and it's come back all clear with no record of any accidents etc. It comes up as a Lexus IS200 SE in the report but this car has a rear spoiler with brake light (looks standard) , side skirts and a sport grille. Is this right ? Is this a sport model? Current owner says he's had exhaust replaced at a price of £260, and that he was advised a lamba sensor would be needed soon. CD has error 3 code. Alloys laquer is peeling. O/S rear bumper has popped out slightyl on the side of the rear quarter under the rear light cluster....can this be easily popped back in? The Lex also has had 10 owners as well....but comes with old mots, some service history and 2 keys. 7 months MOT and 3 months Tax No knocks or scrapes and looks pretty mint too. Good buy for £1400 ?? Advice appreciated so my entry into the Lexus world is a happy one ;-)
  4. Now there's a thought!! 😄😄 Cheers Ian
  5. It's got a bit of history early from early on in its life....and he bought it 6 months ago from another friend who's dad was a mechanic and did the cambelt change between 110k and 130K although there is no paperwork to back it up. It's a lovely car although I've never been in it. Got a 12 month mot and taxed for 6 months so its a good start....I know it's daft but I feel like I'm going backwards in the plates but know the Lexus is a far superior vehicle !
  6. Yeah I probably would be intrested Ian thanks. Just need to get a Lex now. Currently got a 53 plate Vectra C Sri 2.2 Diesel and am looking to change. I work at Toyota in Derby so know about the quality etc. I know I'm putting you in the spot but what would your advice be on swapping with a friend of mine on an IS200 on a Y plate with 130k? He has a change of job and needs a diesel. Never driven an IS200 before but always fancied one. Like my Vec, good work horse.....but I'm mulling over whether the loss in economy is worth it !! Any advice ? Cheers Ian
  7. Cheers Ian.....come to think of it I had a BMW 5 series years back in silver and that was the same. Many thanks buddy ;-)
  8. Hiya.....am currently looking at a Lexus advertised near me in Silver. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to whether the engine bay in 'primer' colour is standard ? Or should it be silver? Anyone with a SILVER IS point me in the right direction please? Many thanks ;-)
  9. Hi gang, currently looking to getting a Lexus IS200.....but am wondering.....which one is best, an auto or a manual?? I'm a 41 year old responsible male ;-) Any advice would be good thanks
  10. Cheers Bash, Chris and Phil! Will take all the comments on board about the Lexus and look more closely..... You're right about the Vectra though Phil, it's a bloody good workhorse and is chain driven....one of the reasons I got it! Only thing holding me back is the economy.....cos prior to the Vectra I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and 16 to the gallon was a real eye opener in the real world! Now it feels like the Vectra runs on air. Had a Saab 95 Aero before that ( 2.0 turbo) and early 20's was a lot better but duable! Thank you very much all if you for taking time out....you Lexus lads are a good bunch! Adam
  11. Thanks for the reply lads.....am defo gonna have a look at the Lex and take it from there
  12. Cheers Ian.....I do like my Vec and the diesel saves me a few quid.....but I've always liked the IS200 and they seem to be going for next to nothing.....you seem to obviously like yours !!
  13. Hi gang! Just joined to pick some brains! I currently run a 53 plate Vectra 2.2 SRi DTi which is quite a sporty diesel with a 145000 miles under its belt! A friend of mine has a Lexus IS200 on a Y plate with 130000 miles on it and he wants to do a deal on a swap. Both cars are pretty mint body wise! I know their reliable Japanese motors but haven't driven one yet......and I know I'll be losing half my fuel economy if I swapped, but I don't do big miles.....just a 18 mile round trip to work and back and some pottering about. So the question is shall I swap ?? Any advice or pointers would be appreciated !! Thanks ;-)
