Hi, when the key is turned to fire, the engine comes on there is a click sound then no sound on any mode. the bass controls etc go off and cant adjust anything also no ASL button shows.....but before starting the engine the sound in all modes is perfect. parrot hands free fitted

LS 430 2001 - Radio and all modes totally fine when electrics on. Turn the switch to put the engine on and the radio etc stays on and no sound at all...turn off the engine to the electrics still doesnt work Turn totally off and then back to electrics ....sound on in all modes no problem Any ideas?

Thanks, its is a used strut, checked first and all looked ok. The VSC only started coming on after a fault code reader was attached during the replacement.

Thanks, yes i replaced the OSR strut and the bag was completely blown. Everything went very smoothly with the refit and the operation. When the sides were measured the difference in height at each side was about 5mm. The actual arm of the sensor and not the sensor itself had seized. The original airbag and the sensor were fine so advice would be never drive the car after it goes to the highest position at the back even if the ride is not too bad. The next issue is that when the car is then switched off, in the next few hours, the previously offending side drops back down to the blown position. The back nearside and both front stay. The front suspension does seem high also but will move up more when the hi height button is pressed. The compressor does not come on continually when the car is started and stops after leveling. The bag was checked before fitting. And the Check VSC light always comes on, which never happened even when the shock blew. or when i was driving it to the garage. Has anyone had this problem before? Again any advice is greatly appreciated

Hi there 2 days ago the ride height at the back went very high and stayed. I never really drove it after this as it was very bumpy, however needed to get to work today. The drive initially was not too bad, quite smooth even although very high, then nearer my work i heard the compressor going and it got much more bumpy and bouncy. Then a loud bang from the back. Both back sides now look like they are touching the top of the tyres. I take it i have blown an air strut? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Pete

It does return when i put the problem one back in, but i have ordered a newer one from a 2005 model, i hope they are compatible, i suspect if i had not read that US forum i would already be 500-1000 in the hole, 7 days garage time, 4 of which was Lexus and my dealer would have charged the full lot to find that. There has been an alarm in the past but maybe with me dropping her off, the radio on and it also raining i just missed it, anyway not sure how much that contributed but you never know with shorts and electrics

Got an answer from the US site. Amazingly all these electrical problems stem from a faulty rain sensor unit. I disconnected the unit this morning and everything is now working again.

LS 430 2001 X reg - today driving to take the partner to her shopping, car was driving fine all smart key elements and electrics working. Dropped her off and only noticed after about 25 mins of further driving that she had the smart key in her handbag. i had the valet key so put it in when i noticed the warning, Then the problems started. Wing mirrors folded in whilst driving and will not come back Alarm (doesnt sound like car alarm) coming from nearside boot intermittantly even when driving and when battery fully removed Smart key light does not flash and all keyless system not working various electrics not working now - front soft close, door open lights, auto front lights off on exit, all back seat electric (massage etc), seat belt adjusters - may be others that i have not found Car not locking with or without key fob/key (drivers does with actual key but not others). I tried the smart key button but nothing, i took the battery off and that alarm still went off. Car drives fine when key is in Any help appreciated

I know all his names and have given them all to ebay but sweet fanny adams. The best way to get him is to get the name and address of the guy he bought the car from, quietly and then find out from the police who it is that deals with this type of thing and give them the story, they like good info as it makes it an easy nick, they don't have to do any investigating. If anybody has his proper name and address I have friends who work for the Benefits depts up in Blackpool who will gladly run his name and address through the system. Mike Would you be able to tell me them i suspect he has already ruined an auction of mine for my LS430 with one of his other names, i had to relist and already got another email as lexus chap with a pathetic offer.

I cant find anywhere, any info on aftermarket 17" alloys that will actually fit the LS430 (2000). Does that mean other than OEM they dont exist? Wolfrace say 17" gb polars should fit but Roachford Tyres say no 17" will. I cant find any OEM's 17" so any help is appreciated
