  1. Little bit of poetic justice on my cambelt change , lexus garage phoned today Hello Mr blackaller I see you've cancelled  any particular reason sir .  Yes I said you've priced yourselves out of the market by £430 and you wasn't even going to collect or deliver  , oh well if you need us at any point don't hesitate  I chuckled and said thankyou

  2. Well I've made a few calls and I ended up booking with another garage to the tune of £680 all in and they will collect and return if necessary. So lexus can go swivel

  3. I've been in touch with local lexus dealers and first of all they booked it in for cambelt 795 Inc and after asking a few questions  I realised waterpump was not included.  So on the phone I got  answer was well its not necessary to replace waterpump everytime.   I'm not happy , so suggesting that it's the norm to replace all while apart . Answer I got was we will do that for you sir , oh good that's better . The cost will be 400 +   it take an extra 1.5 hrs  so total being 1100 quid .  MORTIFIED  is the word

The 400h I recently purchased has receipts with it and one of them is for a timing belt and water pump change but it's dated March 2018.

Back then the belt was £160 and the pump was £78 with labour cost of £195 so if you can apply inflation to that total of £433, plus the dreaded VAT, then I hope it might be of help.

  6. Just a few thoughts came to mind after reading a lot about fuel economy and driving a lexus. If people are spending tens of thousands of pounds on these cars and then worry about miles per gallon buy a smart car if you haven't already.  I can't afford tens of thousands  but I'm sure I'm not going to sit and worry about what my V8 sc is consuming  I'm just going to drive it and enjoy it

It's not so much about how many miles you can run after the light is on, more about risk vs cost.

Most modern fuel pumps are actually inside the tank and the petrol itself acts as both a lubricant and a coolant. Imagine most of the pump being dry, the small amount of fluid left only covering the bottom of it - no lubrication and the possibility of damaging the pump by overheating, or by drawing up crud.

Just not worth the risk of doing expensive damage in my opinion.

Absolutely  make sure you leave quarter tank of fuel then your safe  quite logical really  lol
