Hi All
I'm new to the forum today and I'm just in the process or purchasing my first Lexus, a 2006 GS450h SE-L :hocus-pokus:
These cars seem to be quite rare and the last four I had my eye on were snapped up before I got a change to view them.
I live in Bournemouth and went to slough to look at a silver one that had a very attractive price, but unfortunately on arrival it became apparent that there was a hybrid fault displayed on the dash and the power diagram on the touch screen was showing no flow. The owner, a nice 73 year old man, had only driven 3000 miles over the past 18 months and had not noticed (Hmmm?) the error. Needless to say that although the car was excellent in all other ways I didn't buy it ........ incidentally, I've since been told that "Check Hybrid" error can be caused by someone installing a non-Lexus 12v battery - Does this sound feasible?
Anyway, after a wasted trip to Slough I drove up to Birmingham and bought a Nordic Blue one with beige leather interior and 93k on the clock - The car is really spotless inside and out and the only issue is a small tear about 1cm in the driver seat that I can only assume was caused by someone wearing braces, so I may see how much that costs to fix as I know someone in the trade.
The car seems to have had the inverter replaced in 2009 as there's a Lexus sticker on the cover saying that it's been modified so hopefully this is a good sign as I've read that some early GS450h's suffered from this and that Lexus changed something on later cars.
Hoping to pick the car up on Monday and can't wait :hohoho:
Has anyone had experience of the Lexus extended warranty and their Essential Care Service Plans?
Re the Service Plan, my local dealer doesn't appear to offer this and the next nearest does, but says that the £299 major service price it doesn't include all the parts needed for a major service which seems a bit odd to me, and they've quoted me a price of £478 instead !?
Cheers guys

PS - is there any way top hook up a digital TV receiver in this car? Great to be able to play DVD's but a TV would be more useful.
