  1. Picked up my ISF on Saturday and love it so far but the Mark Levinson seems really underwhelming.

Ive owned an IS220d, GS430, GS450h, and all of those were fantastic, but the ISF doesn’t seem very good?!

Also, is there a Firmware update that can be done for the MMI? Because it also seems really dated to the other cars I’ve had, despite being years newer!

    Cheers

Just to add, it doesn’t even start getting loud until volume 30, whereas what I’m used to is 30 being fairly loud!

Could it be an amp issue?

All the questions - after buying the car, 😁did you test drive it ?

Of course I test drove it 🙂 ! I kind of knew what to expect in a way as I’d driven an RCF a fair few times.

I was just curious as to the history really!

This is my 5th Lexus now but plan on keeping this one!

  3. Awesome can’t wait to pick her up!

One other question. It’s a 2013 but it has the older wheels on.  I right in thinking in 2012 they changed the wheels for a different style and they were wider?

So, have the wider wheels been replaced with the older narrower ones, or did they also make that design wider too?

  4. I'm a bit worried that when I get in my car after I finish work, I usually have about half Battery, but then literally a few minutes of town driving, I'm down to 2 bars! Surely it should be lasting longer than this, even if I was purely on Battery?

When I'm up to speed it does also charge quick, and I do get a full green Battery now and then. I'm just concerned about rate of discharge in town.

    Can someone advise?

    Thanks

  5. Just thought I'd start a topic on the performance of the Gen 3 450h and maybe who has been surprised with how it fairs with other cars out there!

I was out with a friend in his remapped Audi TTS (2012) and from 70 leptons upwards he can't get past me, I couldn't pull away either though.

Also, there was a Jaguar S Type R trying to stop me getting past but he couldn't! He didn't look too happy about it, haha.

I honestly think after 70 it would keep an e92 M3 honest!

    Anyone else had any experiences?

    Thanks

It depends on how long it's been sat in the petrol station tank. I'd stop using premium if I were you because the turn over is much less and you don't really need it. The only advantage of premium fuel is the higher octane rating, which is required for some high performances cars with a higher compression ratio. In a cars designed to run on regular, you're just wasting you're money.

Cheers for the heads up. I will start running 95, maybe it will agree with the engine more. Will certainly agree with my wallet!

  7. When I get in my car in the mornings, the engine always kicks in for about 20 seconds then shuts off, which is fine.

This morning though, the usual thing happened, but there was a random thud noise coming from the engine every couple of seconds. Definitely not a knock, but a dull thud sound, I could actually feel it through the car.

    Like: Thud.........thud thud.....thud..................thud................thud...........thud thud.

Once it had warmed up it was fine.

Hopefully nothing serious. Can someone reassure me please?!

    Thank you!

  8. Hello,

I bought a 2008 GS450h with 44,000 miles on Friday. So far I love it, really happy with it.

I just had a question regarding a noise. I'm pretty sure it wasn't doing it when I first got the car, but yesterday, when I pulled up in my drive, car in park, handbrake on, I got out (car still running) and I heard a fast ticking noise coming from around the lower drivers side engine area, more towards middle of the car. The noise is similar to when you have a dead Battery and you try starting a car, but it's constant.

I have read and heard the valve / injector noise and it does sound like that, however this was with the engine off!!

So not sure what this could be, any ideas?

    Thank you

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd mention I have just had a minor service on my car and my MPG has rocketed!

Before I was getting an average of 33 - 37 mpg to and from work (city and motorway). Since having the car back I am getting 42 - 46 mpg! I really think on a long run it will do 50 - 55 mpg!

The Toyota dealer that did the service mentioned that the air filter was completely clogged up, the car could barely breathe, which is probably why I had inconsistent idling too!

So, might be worth looking at your air boxes and just checking how clean they are, maybe it'll get you a few more mpg!

    Cheers

  10. Hi Everyone,

I would just like advice if possible on aftermarket DMF's / Clutches. Mine are on their last legs so I am looking for replacements. I have seen the D4D 2.2 Avensis part which I have been told fits, but not sure about the quality of non-genuine Toyota / Lexus parts. Obviously there's a huge saving, and I am thinking of getting rid of the car in maybe 6 Months, so maybe a better option? I would try and hold out but I don't think it will!!

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

  11. Thanks again blackcts!

I would say the clutch bites at 60 - 70% of the travel and there is a bit of judder 'now and then'. I have tried putting the handbrake firmly on though and rolling the car on the clutch and there's no sign of slip, and it handles aggressive launches pretty well still!

Cheers for the information on the parts, will bear that in mind. Most of my driving is dual-carriageway so should be OK I suppose!

    Thanks for your help.

  12. Thanks for the quick reply!

Funny you should mention the gearbox oil, was thinking about that myself, but read somewhere that the gearbox oil should last the life of the car?

I had the EGR valve cleaned last summer as it went into limp mode. Probably clogging up again though?

Does anyone know when major things start to go wrong with these cars (mileage), I'm thinking of changing it soon but due to negative equity I'm holding on for a bit longer. Just worried expensive things like DMF / Clutch / Gearbox will start to go?

    Thanks again.

  13. Hi,

I have an IS220d SE with 97,000 miles.

Recently I have noticed on these cold mornings, when I leave the car idling for a few minutes, it seems to idle at the correct rpm (750 - 800?) but every few seconds it will give a quick blip, probably about another 100 rpm, and it does this all the time. I have recently installed a new Battery, could that have anything to do with it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh and also, the car is absolutely HORRIBLE to drive when cold! I know these gearboxes aren't known for their slickness, but it feels like I have to be really gentle with it and be really slow with the gear changes! Sometimes 2nd gear doesn't even want to know!! When the car is warm though after about 30 minutes of driving, the gearbox feels so much nicer!

    Thanks Guys! :)

  14. Hello Everyone,

I have just joined the forum to get some good advice about a potential problem with my car, so hopefully some of you can help! :)

I have an IS220d with 96,000 miles, FLSH.

Recently, under certain circumstances when pulling away, I have noticed like a ''ck ck ck ck ck'' noice when pulling away. If I come to a complete stop, then pull away, it seems fine. It usually happens say If I'm slowing down for lights, they suddenly change, so I go into first and then set off, already doing few mph.

I also get the noise for instance if I accellerate in a low gear (1st or 2nd) then suddenly depress the clutch.

Hopefully someone knows what I'm on about or has had a similar thing, maybe it's nothing serious but If someone can put my mind at rest it would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks :)
