  1. I think it's more a case of having to go to Lexus. The car has been sold and I'm happy with the price.
  2. Hi guys, A quick update. I collected the car yesterday. Fortunately the garage I bought it from managed to get a second hand part and paid £100 towards the bill. It still cost £400 though instead of £800 +. They did say it was the first time they'd ever seen this fault. So I'm going to sell. I think I'm going to look at a classic mini. If it does need repairs there are plenty of garages available to fix it. Thanks
  3. Hi guys, I thought I'd give you an update. The guys from Lexus Chester have managed to finally found out the culprit. It's an ecu buried deep in the dash that covers the boot release, fuel release cap, the steering wheel and also the lights that flash to signify the car is locked and unlocked. The quote is coming out at £860.00 incl VAT for the part and all the labour. They did say they've never come across this fault before. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next few days and then it's going up for sale. Thanks
  4. Hi neilj Thanks for your response. The battery is fine. I've located all of the five fuse boxes around the car. I dropped the car off at Lexus Chester this afternoon. I know what you mean about the electrics. I was after a mark one Audi TT convertible or a Porsche Boxster. After siting in the Lexus I was seduced by the interior. I'm hoping that the visit to the garage isn't going to be a regular occurrence though. I do tend to get bored with cars, so an advert could be appearing! I'll let you know what the fix is.
  5. Hi. Yeah I've tried that. Also made sure the valet button in the glovebox is in the correct position. All of the fuses are fine. Five different fuse boxes!!!!!! The car is booked into Lexus Chester next week, so hopefully they'll be able to solve it. My credit card is hoping it's an easy fix. Will let you know what happens.
  6. Hi guys. I wonder if you can help. On Friday the steering wheel memory stopped working. You can still adjust it using the left hand side electronic toggle on the column. Today the boot won't open, neither the fuel filler cap. The roof will still come down without any issues. I've located the three sets of fuses, but can't see anything relating to boot release or fuel cap. It's a 04 reg March 2004 model. Thanks in anticipation.
  7. No Bluetooth, but they've inspected it and it's a grade A car. Very happy.
  8. Lexus Chester have confirmed that today. Thanks I spotted a telephone symbol on the sat nav, so they'll confirm if it has Bluetooth.
  9. Well I collected my car this morning. Unfortunately it started raining just as we arrived at the garage. The journey home was sublime. There was no need to put my foot down, I just wafted along. It's amazing how many glances the car gets. I do have another question. Do you just usal the regular unleaded petrol, or can you use the higher grade? Thanks
  10. Hi Denise, I'm very excited to collect mine on Saturday. I think it's a Marmite car. I happen to love it though. It's booked into Lexus on Monday to get the timing belt changed and they're going to give it an examination. I must admit though if it's dry the roof is down! Ian
  11. Thanks for that tip. I'll have a look when I collect the car on Saturday.
  12. Thanks for that. It's obviously the age that dictates a change. Any idea on price for the work?
  13. That of course should have said Just Bought my first Lexus SC today!
  14. Hi guys, I've had a look around and thought I'd post. I'm a huge fan of convertibles and have owned a couple of Audi TT's, Mazda MX5, Mini Roadster and Golf Cabriolet. I've been looking for a Mark 1 Audi TT roadster as a weekend car without much luck, along with BMW Z4's Last night I came across an ad for a Lexus SC430, 2004 in silver, with black leather interior. Just one owner, 42,000 miles and all Lexus services done. I'm picking it up next week, but I wonder if you guys can help me with a couple of queries. I've seen about the Lexus service plans on another thread, so will call them about that. Do I need to get the timing belt changed? How much should it cost and does it have to be done by Lexus? There isn't an aux point, but I need to be able to use my phone handsfree. Is there a bluetooth kit recommended that doesn't need to be screwed into the car? Are there any other does and dont's I should be aware of? Thanks in advance. Ian
