  1. I'm referring to the one bluesman has created a link to. No assumption I know that is him.
  2. I think we all know who is selling these. Adam/lexus chap recently banned from the forum. Interesting that he is getting the cars there
  3. Having just read the updates to this thread I thought I would offer my experience. I bought an ls400 from him to which he claimed the cam belt had been changed at 90k I was aware there was no paperwork to back that up. As a buyer it is my responsibility to check that. As there was no evidence to support it I knocked the price down. Lexus have since said there is no evidence on the car that the belt has been changed. He text me this morning asking what my issues were I told him and am satisfied by his responce. Being an engineer I identified on the test drive 90% of the issues and the rest I worked out on the the side of the road. The only thing that concerned me was the mileage. 117000. But the mot Certs show the mileage for the last 5 years and that backed up the photocopied service history. He was courteous pointed out faults (all beit ones i already knew) but I did feel a little uncomfortable about something but that was just me personally. I took a punt and bought it for 1250. In his text he offered me the money back in return for the car. I declined as I have put new disks and pads all round had the fob reprogrammed and it is going in for a new cam belt at lexus so will then know the car is good. I can only say in my experience I have few complaints and agree people should be honest but he is not alone and as a buyer we need to be on our guard and be as prepared as possible. I am not supporting nor slating him all I am doing is presenting facts which I think is more important and more useful to prospective buyers. I love my car despite its poor paint work and will buy another low mileage mint one when I can but only because I always intended to. Hope this helps
  4. If you buy from toyota beware the warranty they offer isn't as comprehensive. I bought a 2009 toyota and extended warranty only to find it was a different warranty and didn't cover half as much. Took a lot of fighting to get repairs carried out.
  5. Thanks I found it through eBay but bought it cash. I new he wasn't upfront about everything at the time but I checked the car over and figured I worked out all the faults. I only paid 1200 and it had an mot till jan which backed up Mileage claims for the last 4 years. Lexus are checking cam belt for any signs of change and a general health check of the car. Fortunately lexus are one of the few dealers who seem willing to help there car owners regardless of the cars age.
  6. Ok I will thanks. I bought one from a 1997 car and it wasn't quite the same.
  7. Well I am gutted to find this thread. I have just bought one ls400 from lexuschap. I can't help but question everything about it now. Fortunately I have a good relationship with my local lexus garage and they are giving me a free all over check of the car to tell me what is and isn't good with it! I just feel gutted I may have bought a pup
  8. Hi I am after a cd changer for my 1998 ls400. Can anybody help please i believe the part number is PN 86270-50120, I seem to be struggling to find one in the uk. Many thanks in advance
  9. I have finally got an ls400 98R and she is beautiful. I have had is200's and a new is220 but this is somthing else. Now we do have problems. Disk changer is caput. Radio doesn't recieve signal from aerial. It needs mopping and the alloys are a little less than graceful but the engine is silky smooth and has only done 117k with full service history. She is good!
