  1. So its not just mine then Jim? I'm assuming yours only opens everything too then? None of my keyfobs close the windows or sunroof
  2. I would just like to wish Tees ls430 the best of luck in a speedy resolution to returning his life to the way it was before he was the unfortunate victim of yet more careless motoring on our roads -" there but for the grace of God"as they say. And just as a side while there are no doubt some outrageous lead swingers who attempt to deceive insurance companies and cost us all more money, not every "whiplash" claim is a inflated con. In my professional capacity as a power development coach I have spent the last two years working with a sportswoman of national champion standing who suffered "whiplash" related injuries after being rear ended by a van, sadly she was not lucky enough to have been driving a lexus. Her injuries and continuing problems are beyond belief and I have never seen anyone suffering such lasting problems even including my days as an international full contact fighter and coach. I would wish you all a safe time behind the wheel and at least we have a fighting chance in our "luxury tanks"
  3. Ok many thanks That doesn't work then Was a bit surprised that it would only offer the opening function
  4. Just a quickie guys Have a 06 ls430 with keyless entry (which I love btw, no more fumbling in the rain or wife's handbag for the keys) Anyway, the unlock button on the key fob opens the windows and sunroof when held down but the reverse action does not close them again. My question is should holding the close switch close all the above? Does it need programming or is it only the open facility which is available? Thanks guys Mark
  5. Morning chaps Drove the lexus to work this morning and parked in the underground car park Popped back down after about 3 hours and noticed a puddle beneath the car. Never noticed this before. Upon inspection the water seems to be clean, not coolant, oil based or washer fluid My first thought was condensation from the air con? Started her up and backed up slightly and drips began again within a few minutes so I peered beneath and found the source to be what I can only describe as a small rubber pipe housed inside a metal tray which runs parallel to the exhaust on both sides of the car approximately beneath the front seats. Are my air con condensation suspicions reasonable or could the problem be more sinister, can't think of another cause of clean water being produced and dispelled?
  6. Hi all I should probably apologise in advance for getting on my usual soap box yet again. Just got back from a very pleasant weeks break in Holland. We travel there several times a year as my good lady is dutch and we pick up a hire car at the airport so we can potter about at our leisure This time we were furnished with a new little citroen. Unremarkable in itself you will say and I would agree The reason for the soap box is the quality of dutch roads compared to our own in good old blighty By about the third day after travelling around on motorways and "B" roads I was forced to comment that the smoothness of the ride compared at least favourably with our lexus and quite often was noticeably better In a baby citroen! !!! I can only imagine what the ride would be like in my beloved lexus on these smooth and pot hole free surfaces I'm almost tempted to go by boat next time just to check this out. I know I have said it before but our roads are a national disgrace and it's a source of some shame when they are compared to our near neighbours on the continent Soap box safely stowed again- for the moment
  7. Checked out this thread with some trepidation for your plight. Just couldn't stop chuckling after reading. Like you say an alarming dip in reliability tho lol Challenge any other owners forum to match those comments
  8. Totally agree with the health care point If they actually used a fair amount of my 40% tax on my and others health care I would be happier as I still have private health as for all the money I hand to the tax man our health care is awful compared to a lot of Europe Just want the money we pay to go back into what we want to pay for not thrown down the drain and give us scandalous quality for top dollar money Oh and repair the bloody roads! !! Sorry chaps rant over
  9. Roads in UK a disgrace And we pay £500 a year in road tax for the privilege Don't get me wrong, I knew the tax band and accept that if i want to enjoy these beautiful cars that's one of the prices to be paid But at least repair the bloody roads for all my tax Especially when you factor in how much tax we pay here every time we fill up!!!
  10. Well after owning my ls430 for about a month and loving the smooth gliding ride I decided to have a play with the sport and power settings I was curious as to how much the ride quality may be compromised I don't know what the rest of you guys have found but in my opinion the amazing comfort has not diminished in any noticeable way by adjusting the suspension the car just feels more tight and poised As for the power button well that is noticeable She definitely picks up faster and there is more sense of urgency getting down the road I'm so impressed with this car so far - just keeps getting better and putting a big smile on my face
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome guys Look forward to chatting soon
  12. Thanks for the welcome Chris No pics as yet as weather has been shocking and she needs a good wash and polish after a 600+ miles easter trip but will get some up asap Incidentally she performed perfectly as you would expect a "Japanese rolls" to in everything from unbelievable motorway rain to the m25 car park. Just a pleasure to be behind the wheel and after only one trip the missus is totally sold on my investment PHEW! !
  13. Hi guys Well I have bitten the bullet at long last and taken the plunge and invested in a 2006 ls430 I've been fortunate in my work to drive and spend time in every top marque for the last 15 years I always loved the lexus from the first one I drove over 13 years ago- despite it having about 120,000 on the clock and always vowed that if i ever made the move from my sports cars a lexus was the only car I would entertain as it's reliability, kit, comfort and value was in my experience untouchable by any other marque so here I am the proud owner of a car with a mere 45,000 on the clock having done only 10,000 miles in the last 5 years and serviced annually at a lexus dealer hopefully ownership shall prove to be the pleasure I anticipate best wishes to you all and I look forward to chatting in the future Mark
