Rx400H Spare Wheel Lost!

Hi, Just been called by the garage servicing my RX400h to ask if I knew what had happened to my spare wheel! Apparently there is no trace of the cover, wheel or cable. They suggest that a thef has cut the cable and stolen it but I'm not at all sure that this is feasible. Has anyone had a similar experience? RMD
