I've regretted selling my beloved 2005 SEL  ever since I drove her to Milton Keynes and drove home in a 450h Premier. I kept the 2005 from new for 14 years but the Premier lasted just over a year ! The ride in my 69 plate Takumi is a little better than the Premier but nowhere near as tranquil as the SEL.

I can still feel the engine thrubbing against the body at 1,100 rpm and it still annoys me that this happens. I have more bells and whistles than I can use on the Takumi but being able to feel the engine vibrate the cabin is the thing I hate the most.

Been getting a similar vibration on mine at 1100rpm. Tried an extra couple of vibration dampers on the exhaust, but no real change. What to do now, go for the new updated model, wait on the next generation due out soon or wait for about a year for the RZ.

Not a bad rate Collin for making tea and being a Gopher in your first year ?🤣

Seriously, you and most of my peers who became Tradesmen after joining Vauxhalls or Shell in the Sixties are sadly a dying breed with skills and experiences which are not available to employees and have not been for at least 25 to 30 years. Many of you took early retirement or became self employed in what were rewarding and successful businesses.👍👍👍

Your correct, first hour and a half was road testing a brush round the workshop. All that stuff over my first twenty years gave me enough experience and confidence to get taken on by the United Nations Dept of Peacekeeping Operations. 22 years later it was retirement time and lots of memories about the people I met and dozens of countries I worked in.

  3. Slightly off topic, but just the rambling of an old fart. I was simply trained years ago on a five year apprenticeship working in a Ford dealership. After completing my time I went on to Rover, Jag, BMW, Grass Machinery and then onto HGV. You just need to look at the huge changes in vehicle technology to see that it’s a constant learning process. For the first year as an apprentice I was on the princely sum of Two Pounds Sixteen Shillings and Tuppence per week.

  4. If we’re all going over to hydrogen and electric power, then seeing as they need electricity to produce the hydrogen we're going to have problems from what they say. According to the esteemed politicians the grid is going to fall flat on its arse. Instead of rushing to upgrade the grid in panic, why not spend the money on the police so they can go after all these cannabis growers who are stealing all the electricity. The scaremongering from the experts say that when everyone plugs in there’s going to be power cuts, but people don’t all plug in at the same time, just as everyone doesn’t turn up at the filling station for petrol at the same time.
