Did not mean to be rude in any way with my question about manuals [emoji16] It was more of a modern day observation. To be fair the number of pages of manuals is getting ridiculous nowadays, that puts some people off for sure.Ah, a well educated man! Boy, are we glad to have you around Peter. Join the debate!
-
Yeah, always. Most of the time I go through manual before I even get the car [emoji16]Some of us do Peter. Do you ?- 2

Does anybody even read manuals these days?

Very interesting, I have had the same problem on my 2017 Gs 300h, and since you cannot open the boot to access the battery
For future reference you can access the boot with flat Battery - just use the standard key that is part of the remote, lock is situated next to licence plate lights.

What offset are your wheels? Don't you have any rubbing of full lock? For 8.5" rims the range is 225 to 255 with 235 to 245 the ideal.
My fronts are 255/35/19 on 9" rims.
I think TRD is towards the higher end of ideal to achieve the widest look for the rim. -
Rims are 8.5". Had previously 235/40/19 tyre on same width rim and did not like the slight stretch.
-
Has anybody with 19" wheels on GS 2012 on changed from 235/40/19 tyres to 245/40/19? Yes, I know all the implications so please lets focus on the question. TRD website recommends 245/40/19 for their rims for GS - not that I bought TRD wheels :-). Seems to me a tight fit, so prefer to check before spending hard earned cash.

If you are asking about OEM Audi wheels I do not think so. You can reduce centre bore with spigot rings, but you would need to use wobble wheel nuts as PCD is different and I have not seen any with ball seat that would suit (Audi uses bolts). Aftermarket wheels have tapered seat and in that case it would be doable, but not sure if worth the trouble, as there is a lot of aftermarket wheels with right PCD.
I have put genuine Audi A1 wheels on CT200h but they have same PCD 5x100. Finding the right wheel nuts took me a while as seems only H&R do them for VAG stud conversion. The problem was radius of the ball seat, which for VAG is R13. Honda uses I think R12 so nuts do not fit properly. Seems like not a lot, but in reality adjoining area is reduced significantly and it simply is not a safe fitting. To bo honest I did not know about all this prior to purchasing the wheels. -
The ES for 2021 will come with AWD in ES250. Do not know if it will be offered in the UK or US only.

Unfo HPI is not perfect. It will not show that the car was in collision if it was repaired by the insurance company. Only write offs are shown. It is still on buyer to check the car before purchase.

Also how reliable is it compared to audi and other brands .
My CT did 76k miles before I parted with it, all oryginal suspension parts, never touched, no problems whatsoever. -
I would be interested. PM sent.

It is very easy if you you have multimeter. The dome light is kept in place by few clips, see the attached Homelink installation manual that shows step by step how to remove it. There is a bunch of wires in light connector, have used multimeter to find one that is live when car is on, ground connected to one of the screws and that is it.Where did you pick the power up from? Was it easy enough to pull the roof plastics to bits?

I use 12v to USB adaptor in all my cars connected to power behind the dome light. Nice clean installation and no need to run wires around the windscreen and under the dashboard.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S9+ and found out Samsung is offering very neat app in Galaxy Store called Good Lock. Among other options it offers Routines - have used them to automatically turn on/off Mobile Hotspot on the phone when it is connected / disconnected via BT to the car. So much better than BT tethering as this had to be reactivated on the phone. Set it also to start amazon Music app.

After talking to my brother it seems Lexus don't even stamp the book if you use the essential service. So that's definitely made my mind up for me!
Last year before I sold my CT200h it was due small service so I went for the essential one and got a stamp in the service book. -
That might be the case.It will update the firmware if a newer one is available. Your GS may have been running the same version as on the map update. -
What year is your GS? And what was new in the software?I updated mine with the May 2019 version. It updated the software as well as the maps. -
Maybe the IS was different. Have updated my 2016 GS300h maps and it was strictly map update, not software.Looking for software update some time ago I have found US Lexus website but it did not offer update for 2016 GS.The update also updates the firmware, so it is quite capable of changing any settings if the manufacturer decided to do so after the car is released. As an example, on my old IS, a map update from 2008 to 2015 allowed the inputting of destinations on the move whereas it was previously greyed out. -
Map update is just a map update and has nothing to do with infotainment software so do not count anything else will change.

My mobile is connected to car over BT and I have tethering enabled. Have set WiFi as well as car is in range on the driveway but it is not very useful. I am on PAYG.
Of course in addition to internet connection you need to enter your account credentials in the car.

I set up Lexus Link app nearly a year ago (app was updated in the meantime) and initially had similar problem, but managed to get it running. Defo have not changed anything in Teachstream as I do not have one. The functionality is limited, but sending route to car works. You need to have some sort of internet connection set up in the car. Wifi is not the best as downloading route takes some time. Best is tethering via BT from your mobile.

Had to replace pads and discs after caliper pins seized. No different than any other car. Did it with disconnected 12V Battery and was rather gentle with pushing the piston just enough to accommodate new pads and discs. Have used Pagid parts and IMO they performed better than OEM that are made by Textar.Hi Everyone, New member with a CT200h.
Just a quick question about brake replacement, do many people do it themselves? I have read how difficult it is, but also seen guides that make it look very similar to regular disks and pads.
I understand the simplest way could be to disconnect the battery and only push the piston back into the caliper enough to go over the new pads.
I am pretty handy with a set of spanner’s having done quite extensive modifications to previous cars, but never on a hybrid power train.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Would you mind sharing how much did they charge you for wheel alignment?
