  1. I bought a tail pipe cover from Halfords (80mm dia) for £ 15 which I thought was too good to be true as they are not easy to get hold of. Went straight home and fitted it to my IS300 with no problem, it looked fantastic....2 days later its gone from shiny chrome colour to horrid shade of gold.....you get what you pay for !

Just bumping this as i have some possibly useful information. The stainless tailpipe covers of the Mkiv supra (once trimmed down) are a great 'gently tap on' tolerance fit over the IS200 exhaust. These will not tarnish and i mention it as the stock Mkiv exhausts are often thrown out by supra owners and/or can be had on eBay very cheap.

  3. Hi,

If you look at the plate on the lefthand side under the bonnet by the bulkhead it should say what type axle is in your car.

Theres no LSD on my car and it says A at the end if theres a LSD fitted it will have i believe a B at the end.

    Cheers Chips..

My model number is E-JZS147-BEP/2 - does this mean it has a LSD ? This plate is on the nearside bulkhead.

as Chips said earlier, you need to locate the VIN/Chassis plate and look for the following figures.....something like A340 A03 AorB (The last B being LSD)

  4. I hadn't heard of the HKS silent so will google a bit on that........

...........Rob as for the boostlogic 4", well i think that may be too much for me, but perfect for you, although what would you then do with your old exhaust :whistling: B) :winky:

  5. There's a guy with a GS300 with the Prolex pipes, I was interested in one myself, but Prolex haven't been too helpful on providing any detailed pics.

Seen a few single exit's on the internet, but I wanted to keep dual exits, probably going to get custom made, I've already designed it, so just got to get prices.

i like the twin pipes but could probably live without them and have been thinking about using a Mkiv supra exhaust, but this will need a custom extension piece after the 2nd cat and also probably some adjustments to the hanger/mountings, so could end up being more hassle........

  6. Has anyone got bought one, or had one custom made? Especially interested in anyone with a Prolex one as at £500 they seem good value compared to the eBay one for £980 (when you include postage!)

Looking for what options are out there for us stock pipe people...........

  7. Even the UK GS is quite nippy, I bet the Aristo TT goes like hell!

It's got some flair, I'll say that much :D Bad influence though, as you find yourself launching away from the lights all the time, even if no one else is racing :P

so far its made a Boxster look silly off the lights, exiting a roundabout and a 911 of some type tried to undertake but failed! Pulled over for a nice RX7 the other morning and that was very fast, but you can't win them all..........

  8. Did you change the lights/badges over to Lexus or was it already done??

Two tone does look rather nice.

it was already done, tbh until recently i didn't know it should be different!

The two tone has grown on me, the white pearl type paint used on the GS makes the mix with silver work well i think

  9. Nice looking supra in the back ground ......... :whistling:

wondered who'd notice that! its a nice looker but it a Non turbo, very nice all the same though......

as for the Aristo well i've had it since around Oct last year with 100K miles on it, not the cleanest/best look after you'll find (been in the uk since 1998) but its received a bit of tlc from me so far and hasn't let me down yet! (tempting fate)

Completely stock at present (came with LSD & leather etc from the factory) but hopefully part decatting soon, though not sure i really want to go above the Fuel cut threshold until i have some spare turbo's waiting in the wings.

The car does look nice and clean in the pic, but does have the usual scuffs around the bumpers and the odd pin dent but nothing drastic enough for me to sort!

Just passed its mot the other week, just needed two rear tyres (my fault not the cars!)

Just a car VFM car IMO (thats VFM buying it not running it!) can just waft along in it or really push it on (and embrass or at least suprise some very pricey motors)

Must be the ultimate sleeper if you can mod it like Rob is going to ................

  10. Been around a while so though i'd best pop up a picture........if my IT skills can manage it........now lets see!

hmm not quite what i was after!

  11. cam belt was replaced 20,000 miles ago,

this could have been partly the reason for the pulley failure. The crank bolt can be a pig to remove and uninformed garages are known to heat the bolt to aid removal, which it does but it also screws the rubber damper part of the pulley and shortens its life.

Sorry it doesn't help you but it may help others avoid the same thing, and as you say you got off pretty lightly, the pulley seperating could do far more damage........

  12. I don't think the stock manifolds are reused on any single conversion, so the fact that J-spec supra, UK spec supra's and aristo 'Manifolds' are different per se doesn't matter.

What matters is the studs bolts in or out of the block. The block being different in this way is unlikely IMO. What i'm saying is that just like you can fit uk spec supra turbo's to a j-spec car IF you have the uk manifold (ie strip the j-spec car back to the block, turbo side) i suspect that a single turbo manifold for the supra will bolt on the Aristo if similarly stripped.

  13. Guys i have a washer bottle type container at the very back righthand side of the engine as you look from the front. I cannot see what it should supply? Its not on the uk manual engine bay diagrams, and i know the windscreen washers uses the usual supply bottle in the passenger side wheel arch.

The car has no front headlight washers either, so whats it for? I'm confused!

  14. Lee, i've come from Mkiv supra's to the Mk1 lexus.

I'm insured with 'Sky' as part of the deal via Mkivsupra.net, and it was £700 ish fully comp, but only £425 third party.

re tuning bits most things aren;t usable. Obviously BOV's etc should be but downpipes/exhausts are not.

Mines an aristo and has leather and the multi speaker system. Its very similar to the one on autotrader (white over silver) thats up in Liverpool / manchester area for 3.5k

  15. As the Aristo is a Japanese car only would this be serviced at Lexus or Toyota? And would this be at a greater cost that a GS300?

Also would the parts be covered as a mix Supra parts and GS300 parts, or are there any that would be specific to the Aristo and would be difficult to source/buy due to the cars origins?

    Nice one :D

Monster, re servicing personally i wouldn't take it (the vertex) to either Toyota or Lexus. I'd seek out a independent (possibly via the Mkivsupra.net forum) that sees these cars daily/weekly and charges say £40/hr as opposed to the main dealer who (in the case of the Jap vertex) is unlikely to have seen one this year and charges £60+.

However my experience of toyota parts departments in generally very positive re imports. I have had import non turbo and turbo supras and now have a mk1 aristo lexus and they can always get the parts (within 2-3days) i need as long as you have the chassis / model information (from the chassis plate)

The aristo is essentially the same as a Mkiv supra, however the part numbers for it will in my experience be unique. eg i recently brought a airfilter for my aristo and it was a different part no. to any of the supra ones i've had in the past despite looking identically.

    BTW get the aristo IMO!

  16. Hi all

Does anyone know the lexus part numbers for the mk1 sport alloys 8.5" and 10" polished anthricite

Been to lexus and they can order but dont know if its the all silver ones or the anthricite and polished rim type and no refund if wrong ones !

    Try hear

the supra boys like these wheels. 'Jake' i know has ordered them. The thread i think has the part no.'s you are after, as the anthracite ones are the popular ones, but might be worth joining up and pm'ing, or searching on there further............

  17. Hi All,

I've had my GS MKII for about 3 months, lovely car, but the brakes are pretty naff in comparison to other cars. So as they are warped (rumble when braking from even 40 to 20mph) I think its time for them to be replaced with the pads.

be sure to check the pads, that come out for even wear. The sliders on the calipers can seize which forces the piston side pad to wear faster and can cause vibration/steering wobble on braking. The disks may be ok (unless below the useable thickness) but even if they are not you want to check the sliders to avoid runing your new ones.

  18. Yo scooter. I have a choice of two sets of discs one from my aristo and one from a J-spec supra. I can compare them and see if they are the same. They will be spare as well if you want a set off me. Might have to come looksee at your defection fro supras vehicle :)

DB that would be good thanks, would be nice to compare the disks etc as i know the supra boys are always off loading the small disks/calipers etc for peanuts!

Would show off the the old girl to you any time, she's no pimped out manual beasty but she'll do.....
