  1. Hi all I have had the same problem, limp mode about 6 months ago, RAC cleaned EGR valve, he told me this could only be cleaned once, 3 months later ,same problem, so I took it to a diesel specialist in near Ormskirk whose software could not read Lexus computer(but still charged me) after phoning me, they replaced the EGR valve and after £450 I picked up the car, Within 2 miles limp mode again. After a 20mph drive home I phoned Lexus and booked a £75 diagnostic test, they seemed to have a great deal about the problem and mentioned that the Cat and DPF may need replacing. I then went on E bay and managed to buy a Euro part system for around £75, as it was ordered for a customer who never had it fitted. I kept my appointment with Lexus Liverpool, who attempted to regenerate the Dpf, but to no avail, so they offered me a cat and Dpf for £1600, at this point I mentioned the copy system which just happened to be in the boot. They agreed to fit the copy for £400 and carry out extra works, all in I agreed to a price of all in £500 including diagnostic, but they did warn me about white smoke. All works complete and 5000miles later, white smoke is the only problem, mpg around 36miles per gallon on a full 450 mile cycle, which is pretty embarrassing during low speed motorway standing traffic. I believe the difference between a genuine CAT/DPF is the fact that the original part contains, as Lexus Platinum, which collects diesel particles and the copy does not and god knows how they get rid of them, which brings me to the conclusion that this genuine filter would need replacing every 20k. Conclusion-go petrol as Lexus has
